ENGLAND'S U21 have got off to a losing start in the Euros as a strike from Dan Ndoye secured all three points for Switzerland.
Aidy Boothroyd's men failed to threaten during the game and have it all to do to qualify from a group also containing Portugal and Croatia.

It's been another disappointing start for England at the European U21 Championships.
In what has become an all too familiar story, the Young Lions fell to Dan Ndoye's late fluke of a goal - a double hit that looped beyond Aaron Ramsdale - to leave them pointless ahead of games with Portugal and Croatia in Group D.
However, it's debatable as to whether Aidy Boothroyd's youngsters deserved anything more after a lacklustre display that saw them register just one shot on target.

The U21s are back in action on Sunday when they face the Portuguese in Ljubljana.

BOOTHROYD REACTION
Aidy Boothroyd is also entrusting his team to bounce back in their remaining games against Portugal and Croatia. The England U21 coach believes the players need to be more decisive with their possession, and create more for the forwards to thrive off.
I thought we had a high-percentage of the ball, but we weren’t clinical enough. We didn’t create enough in the final third. You expect a 0-0 in a game like that but then there’s a freak goal and those are the fine margins. We’re not out of it yet though, we have two more games to go and we can still get out of the group. That’s what we fully intend to do.

It's been another discouraging performance from England in the opening game of the European U21 Championships.
It's now 12 years since the Young Lions won their first group match at the tournament, a 2-1 win over Finland when Micah Richards and Lee Cattermole were on target.

England U21 defender Ben Godfrey has been speaking at full time, and while he admits it's been a disappointing start to the Championships, he's backing his teammates to respond well in the coming games against Portugal and Croatia.
[This result] makes it more difficult for us but it’s important that we bounce back. We’ve got a couple of days to recover and prepare, and then we go again. It's up to us senior boys to remind us all that football’s not a straightforward journey, there are ups and downs, and today is one of those downs. It’s important that we stick together and go again, and we’ve got the characters in there to do that. I back us to go and do it.

It's a low-key performance and a disappointing result for England in their opening game of the European U21 Championships. In a game of few chances, the tactically-superior Swiss won through thanks to Dan Ndoye's strike of good fortune. Aidy Boothroyd's team now have it all to do against Portugal and Croatia in their final two Group D games to avoid another early exit.

89. Ramsdale gathers a loose ball, and immediately looks to release it quickly in the hope that his side can find an equaliser. However, there are so few options available to the goalkeeper that he has to wait for Guehi to show himself.

The result is a ridiculous yellow card that leaves the Chelsea man completely incredulous.

78. Disaster for England as Dan Ndoye opens the scoring!
It's a goal of immense fortune for the Swiss, but it had been coming.
There was little danger as Ndoye collected a pass on the left, and looked to make room for himself to shoot from 25 yards out.
However, the forward slipped at the point of impact, and only succeeded it hitting the ball against his other foot. Up it looped despairingly over Aaron Ramsdale and into the top corner.
The Young Lions have it all to do now if they are to avoid beginning the Championships with a defeat.
