‘NONSENSE’
Graeme Souness has insisted that moaning Bruno Fernandes ‘would not have lasted five minutes in my dressing room’ after his latest display for Portugal, writes GARY STONEHOUSE.
The 26-year-old started for his country yesterday against Germany but was subbed off in the second half of their 4-2 Euro 2020 defeat.
Speaking on ITV Sport, Souness said: “He’s an exceptionally talented boy, there is so much to like about him.
“A great striker of the ball, when he shoots he makes the goalkeeper work.
“I played with players that would not be accepting of the thing you just touched on [petulance], you know he doesn’t get the ball and he is waving his hands around.
“He would not have lasted more than five minutes in my dressing room, but he is a wonderful talented boy.”
'LEAVE CHRISTIAN ALONE'
Daley Blind has hit out at claims Christian Eriksen may never be able to play again following his cardiac arrest, writes GARY STONEHOUSE.
The Danish midfielder, 29, collapsed against Finland after suffering a cardiac arrest and has now been fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) last Saturday.
It remains unclear whether the former Tottenham star will be able to play football again but he has made a good recovery and was fit enough to be released from hospital on Friday.
As reported by the Metro, Blind said: “When this happened to me, the whole world was telling me I was finished as a player, that I would not be able to play again.
“Look where I am today. This is why I say to everyone, ‘Leave Christian alone!’
“I felt I was ready and I felt comfortable to return once I got the green light from the doctors in the hospital and the medical staff at Ajax.
“There was no reason why I could not play at the top level again.
“The most important thing is that you have to feel free in your head.”

Turkey threw everything they had at Wales and made all five substitutions they had at their disposal, writes SAM STREET.
Caglar Soyuncu, Halil Dervisoglu, Hakan Calhanoglu and Burak Yilmaz are all on a warning, so if Turkey do progress then they will want to make sure none of these players get booked again.
Cenk Tosun is missing with a serious knee injury.
Switzerland do have a plethora of talent in Borussia Monchengladbach quartet of Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo and Premier League duo Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri.

‘FULLY FOCUSED ON THE JOB HERE’
Harry Kane has insisted that he is ‘fully focused’ on England’s Euro 2020 campaign despite his future at Tottenham unclear.
The striker hasn’t got off to the best of starts at the tournament, and has failed to score in the two group games played so far.
And he was even substituted.
Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “Absolutely not.
“All my focus is on how I can help this team and how we can be successful in this tournament.
“I understand from a media point of view there is speculation, but I am fully focused on the job here.”
SUPER RON
Cristiano Ronaldo rolled back the years when he scored the opening goal of Portugal's encounter with Germany, writes KEALAN HUGHES.
But it was not enough as the Germans fought back to win the best game of the Euros so far 4-2 in Munich.

EUR ONLY HOPE
Defiant Harry Kane still believes England can have a summer of glory at the Euros, writes DAN KING.
The Three Lions were booed off following the woeful display in the goalless draw against Scotland at a rain-drenched Wembley on Friday night.
England captain Kane, 27, said: “We still believe we have a great chance. Look at the last European Championships — I don’t think Portugal won a group game but they ended up winning the tournament.
“It’s slightly rare that you win all your group and knockout games and have a straight line to the top and lift the trophy.
“We’d love nothing more than to win this tournament and be celebrating with the fans outside Wembley and everything that would come with that. But we also know it’s a long road to get there.
“Sometimes you have a few ups and downs to make you work on a few things. It helps the team and the environment and helps you improve for the later stages of the tournament — and that’s the case for us.”
ITALY TEAM GUIDE
Italy are looking very strong so far, beating both Turkey and Switzerland 3-0.
GAME DAY
We have some big fixtures being played today, and we're into the final round of fixtures in each group.
And we start off with Group A on this fine Sunday.
Italy welcome Wales to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, and the Italians are already through.
Wales look like they will secure second spot no matter what, even in Switzerland win.
But a shock win in Rome would see Wales finish top.
The game is scheduled to get underway at 5pm, you won't want to miss it!
And the late kick-off is Switzerland and Turkey in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Turkey will have a large following at the game, much like they did against Wales but they didn't perform.
They have been a massive, massive disappointment. Some even labelled them dark horses!
A win for Switzerland could fire them into the knockout stages as one of four of the best third placed teams.
GOOD MORNING EUROS FANS
Spain's place in the knockout stages is under threat after being held to a second straight draw at the Euros.
Alvaro Morata fired his side ahead in the first half thanks to a controversial VAR decision.
Robert Lewandowski then bagged a second-half equaliser before Gerard Moreno missed a penalty - with Morata then sending an open-goal rebound wide as the game ended 1-1.
Earlier, Germany made up for their opening game defeat to France by sealing a huge 4-2 win against Portugal.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring before own-goals from Ruben Dias and Raphael Guerreiro put Germany ahead.
Joachim Low's men then moved 4-1 up thanks to efforts from Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens before Diogo Jota pulled one back for Portugal.
Elsewhere, world champions France were held to a 1-1 draw by a battling Hungary side.
The hosts took a shock lead before the break through Attila Fiola before Antoine Griezmann levelled in the second half.
Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate says England are 'a work in progress' and playing catch-up with fellow Euro 2020 favourites.
He said: “Some teams are at a different point in their development.
“The run that Italy have had - 28 or 29 games unbeaten - and we know what France and Portugal have done over the last few years.
"And Belgium have been the No 1 team for four years.
“So that’s the level. That’s the standard we’ve got to aspire to. We’re a work in progress.”
Finally, Harry Kane has promised England fans: I’m ready to peak at the business end of the Euros.
He said: “I know the chances will come with the players we have got in the team.
“And when they do I will be more than capable of putting them away.”

MORE TO COME
Harry Kane has promised England fans: I’m ready to peak at the business end of the Euros.
He said: “What we’ve learned over past tournaments, is it’s about trying to peak at the right time.
“Maybe in Russia there were times, towards the quarter and semi final, when I wasn’t as sharp as I wanted to be.
"In the end we didn’t quite get to where we wanted to go, maybe partly for that reason.
“I know the chances will come with the players we have got in the team.
“And when they do I will be more than capable of putting them away.”
WE KANE DO IT
Harry Kane believes England can still go all the way at the Euros.
He said: “We still believe we have a great chance in this tournament and that's how we will feel all the way to the end.

“Sometimes you have a few ups and downs, maybe a few reality checks to make you work on a few things.
“It helps the team and the environment and helps you improve for the later stages of the tournament and that's the case for us.”

Dembele has just one year left on his Barca deal and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
TROUBLE BRU-ING
Lee Dixon took a swipe at Bruno Fernandes for 'strolling' around with 'zero energy' as Portugal were thumped by Germany.
He told ITV: "I think someone needs to tell Fernandes he's 3-1 down. He is just strolling on the ball.
"He had a chance then to run into space and commit a few players ahead of him. No energy in his run at all."
