Who needs Pogba when we can have Sissoko! Real Madrid believe Newcastle midfielder is suitable alternative

REAL MADRID are bracing themselves at the prospect of missing out on Paul Pogba – but believe they have a suitable alternative.

According to sources in Italy, the French midfielder has all-but sealed a world-record £112m move to Manchester United.

But Real Madrid are confident they have found a different option – in the shape of Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The 26-year-old had a stellar showing in the European Championships this summer with the hosts France, and with Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship, the Magpies may look to cash in.

The reports: “That deal should be concluded in the next couple of weeks and, following preliminary talks, Newcastle believe Real will make a bid for Sissoko once it is certain Juventus have agreed to allow Pogba to return to Manchester United.”

The French midfielder is expected to cost around £30m.

However, Sissoko has previously stated his intention to remain in England.

“My priority is to stay in England even if I’m not against going to search for a new challenge elsewhere,” he has said.

“I particularly want to play with big players and in top-level matches.”

But the prospect of becoming a “Galactico” may prove too hard to turn down.

And Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez may fancy the idea of spending the money from the Sissoko sale to improve his squad, with star players Andros Townsend having already joined Crystal Palace, and Georginio Wijnaldum close to sealing a £25m switch to Liverpool.
