Tour de France star Maurits Lammertink rushed to hospital after horror accident and undergoes emergency brain surgery
CYCLING star Maurits Lammertink was rushed to hospital for brain surgery after an accident last night.
The 30-year-old was hit by a scooter in Hengelo, Netherlands.
His wife has now confirmed the horrific incident to as her husband continues to recover in hospital.
An ambulance quickly arrived on the scene following the collision to perform first aid on the ace.
Lammertink was then taken to hospital with brain damage.
He was operated on overnight for his injuries.
The Dutchman was due to compete in next week’s Tour de France.
Lammertink currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Intermarche–Wanty–Gobert Materiaux in road racing.
And he also represents Tormans in cyclo-cross.
He won the overall classification of the Tour de Luxembourg ahead of Philippe Gilbert and Alex Kirsch back in 2016.
