ROBERTO MANCINI has been sacked by Inter Milan just two weeks before the start of the Serie A season and have replaced him with Frank de Boer.

The club’s Chinese owners wielded the axe on the former Manchester City boss after watching the Nerazzurri get thrashed 6-1 by Tottenham in a friendly on Friday.

Dutchman de Boer is the man the Suning Holdings Group have installed in the San Siro hotseat after bringing ending Mancini’s second spell in charge of the club.

De Boer led Ajax to the Eredivisie title four times during his six-year spell in charge from 2010.

The 46-year-old quit the club at the end of last season after missing out on the title to rivals PSV Eindhoven.

He is now charged with restoring the Italian giants, who won the Champions League in 2010, back to the higher echelons of European football.

The Suning Holdings Group, who also controls Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, purchased a majority share in Inter this summer.

They vowed to return the club “to their glory days and become stronger and stronger, attracting the stars of world football” upon completing their purchase.

The job is the first outside of his homeland for De Boer, who made more than 300 appearances for Ajax before joining Barcelona, Galatasaray and Rangers during his distinguished career.

The ex-defender also won 112 caps for Holland and captained them at two World Cups.
He will begin his tenure by facing Celtic in the International Champions Cup, their final pre-season friendly, before kicking-off the Serie A season away to Chievo on August 21.
