Transfer news LIVE: Erling Haaland updates, Wilshere denied Como switch, Saul Niguez first Chelsea training session

DEADLINE DAY did not disappoint as clubs scrambled to get last minute deals over the line.

In one of the signings of the summer, Saul Niguez is heading to Chelsea on loan after the Blues swooped for their man late in the evening.

But Atleti fans were appeased by the arrival of former favourite Antoine Griezmann, who joins from Barcelona with an obligation to buy.

Luuk De Jong was his replacement at the Nou Camp, while PSG sensationally turned down a mammoth bid from Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe.

Tottenham were busy, bringing in Emerson Royal while Odsonne Edouard is a Premier League player after completing his move from Celtic to Crystal Palace.

  • DONE DEAL: RUNARSSON JOINS OH LEUVEN

Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Runarsson has joined OH Leuven on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper joined Arsenal last September from French outfit Dijon, but failed to make an impact.

Arsenal have wished Runarsson all the best on his adventure in the top flight of Belgian football.

  • ANTOINE'S ATLETI RETURN IS ON

The phone of Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth has been in overdrive this evening, and the reporter has just received word that Antoine Griezmann's return to Atletico Madrid from Barcelona is ON.

The move is dependent on Barca capturing former Newcastle flop Luuk De Jong from Sevilla, and that too is predicted to be completed.

From a forward line of Messi, Suarez and Griezmann to a potential front two of Braithwaite and De Jong, where did it all go wrong for Barcelona?

  • LIVE-LINE

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is set to join Millwall on loan, writes PAUL JIGGINS.

Preston have also been in talks to take the wideman, 24.

But it is looking like the Lions have snatched him from under North End’s noses.

  • DONE DEAL: KRAL JOINS CZECH MATES

West Ham have completed the signing of Czech midfielder Alex Kral on loan with the view to a £17million permanent deal in the summer, writes DUNCAN WRIGHT.

Kral, 23, has been snapped up to provide valuable midfield options to Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek ahead of the dual challenge of Premier League and Europa League football.

The Hammers have agreed the temporary deal with Spartak Moscow and the move will become permanent if appearance and club league performance targets are met.

He becomes the third Czech player at the London Stadium, following the successful captures of Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

Kral plays as a deep midfielder and has already made 20 international appearances, including four during Euro 2020.

Manager David Moyes has kept his eye on the 6’2 midfielder for some time and is pleased to have secured Král’s services.

He said: “He will provide good competition in the centre of midfield. He is another young, talented player who we feel has a big potential and will be capable of adapting to the demands of the Premier League.

“We’ve brought him in on loan initially and, hopefully, over the course of the season he will make a valuable contribution, particularly with our busier schedule of fixtures.

“Alex is another established international player with the Czech Republic, and we hope he has similar characteristics and hunger to that of Tomas and Vladimir.”

  • DONE DEAL: GIBBS-WHITE'S JOINS THE BLADES

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has joined Sheffield United on loan for the season.

Blades boss Slaviša Jokanović has bolstered his midfield options, acquiring the 21-year-old for the season.

On the move, Gibbs-White said: "I'm delighted to be in the doors, all signed up and ready to get started.

"Coming here is a good opportunity to get game time and help the Blades get back to winning ways.

"I've watched the club, the style of play intrigued me and I'm here to get involved.

"I'm looking forward to play for the new manager, his reputation and record speaks for itself at this level."

  • DONE DEAL: RYAN CHRISTIE JOINS CELTIC

Bournemouth have officially announced the signing of Ryan Christie from Celtic.

The Scottish international joins the Cherries for a fee thought to be in the region of £2.5m.

The attacking midfielder flourished at Celtic initially after loan spells at previous club Inverness Caledonian Thistle and then Aberdeen, but his relationship with the Green Brigade has suffered in recent months.

The 26-year-old will now link up with Scott Parker on the south coast as the pair plan to help Bournemouth return to the Premier League.

The Championship club also signed Jamal Lowe from Swansea this afternoon.

  • ATLETI-GO

Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a shock return to Atletico Madrid with Joao Felix going the other way, writes JAKE LAMBOURNE.

The French ace has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp two years after departing the Wanda Metropolitano.

He has scored just 35 times in 102 games in all competitions, with the 30-year-old without a goal or assist from his three starts this term.

The 2018 World Cup winner was in talks with Atletico earlier in the summer in a swap deal with Saul Niguez, but the potential deal collapsed.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, there is a small chance he could yet link up with Diego Simeone's side.

That move will only materialise should Joao Felix head to Catalonia, with the Spanish news outlet stating his agent Jorge Mendes is looking for a solution for him.

  • HAPPY HARRY

Harry Kane claims his “conscience is clear” after failing to land his move to Manchester City, writes CHARLIE WYETT.

The Spurs striker has been criticised for attempting to force a move to City - but they would not meet the £160million asking price so he has remained in north London.

Asked whether his reputation could be tarnished, the England captain said: “No, I don’t think so.

“Anyone involved in the football industry knows the ins and outs and I was calm with the situation.

"It was between me and the club, and when you know the truth and you know what was going on, your conscience is clear.

“I have had ups and downs in my career and I know a lot of people know I am a professional athlete and dedicate my life to this game.

“My focus moving forward is to win silverware at Tottenham and this year is no different.

"We have started brilliantly in the Premier League with three wins and we have a new manager.

"This is my focus. We want to win as many games as possible and get that trophy I have wanted all my career.”

  • NON STARTER

Anthony Martial has said ‘non’ to a last-minute return to France.

L’Equipe are reporting that Lyon representatives contacted Manchester United earlier today about taking the forward on loan for the season, but Martial has made it clear that he wants to remain at Old Trafford and battle for a spot in the first team.

The 25-year-old has endured a difficult year with the Red Devils, having started last season with a red card in the 6-1 home defeat to Spurs. Injuries and goal droughts followed, and, as a result, he had been linked with moves away.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did had Martial a start as the central forward in the recent draw at Southampton, but his ineffective performance was widely criticised in the aftermath.

  • HEAD-TO-HEAD

With Saul Niguez set to join Chelsea, how does his league stats from last season compare to Champions League, Euro 2020 and Super Cup winner Jorginho?

Jorginho was also named UEFA Men's Player of the Year.

  • MOORE IN AT WOLVES?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are making a late effort to bring in Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore, according to Sky Sports' Anton Toloui.

The Black Country club are supposedly in talks with the Bluebirds although no fee has yet been agreed.

Any deal may be hampered, however, by the fact that Moore is currently self-isolating having been in close contact with Wales teammate Adam Davies.

Wolves are also said to be interested in Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara, but there is unlikely to be any sale involving Adama Traore.

  • HERR WE GO

Manchester City have sent midfielder Yangel Herrera back to Spain for a season long loan at Espanyol, writes MARTIN BLACKBURN.

The Venezuelan, 23, impressed during a stint at Granada last season, playing against Manchester United in the Premier League.

He caught the attention of several Premier League clubs including Southampton and West Ham – but is rated in the £20 million bracket at the Etihad.

He will continue his development with the Barcelona-based club before returning to City next summer.

  • RODGERS EFFECT

ADEMOLA LOOKMAN admits he can't wait to get Leicester City fans on their feet - 10 months after bringing the Foxes to their knees, writes GRAEME BRYCE.

The 23-year-old winger joined Brendan Rodgers side on a year-long loan deal from RB Leipzig, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Wandsworth-born Lookman is no stranger to the King Power and scored Fulham's winner there last November as he sealed the Cottagers' shock 2-1 win while on loan with the Londoners.

Those two points proved costly as Leicester eventually missed out on the Champions' League by a point on the final day of last season and Lookman admits he is aiming to make amends to Brendan Rodgers and Foxes fans.

"He (Rodgers) is one of the big reasons why I decided to join this club," said the former England Under-17 world cup winner.

"He’s a coach who develops a lot of players into even better and great players.

"The most important thing for me is to improve and become better - that’s what I want to do here every single day.

"I see myself as an exciting player in terms of creativity, goals and assists. I want to be a player that gets fans off their seats.

"It's a great honour to be at such a big and amazing club with such a huge history and a quality group of players.

"The facilities are incredible, mind-blowing, and I know a few of the players - James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes from the England set-up.

"I still have a lot to improve on and this is the place for me to do that."

For the first time in five seasons Leicester did not sell a major player as they held on to Liverpool and Arsenal targets Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.

Instead, Dennis Praet completed a season-long loan move to Serie A side Torino, two years after the 27-year-old Belgian international joined the Foxes from Sampdoria for £18million.

  • ALL CHANGE AT CELTIC

It's been a busy afternoon for the green half of Glasgow.

With Odsonne Edouard Crystal Palace-bound and Leigh Griffiths loaned out to Dundee, Celtic needed a striker - and the board have obliged with the club's tenth signing of the summer.

The Bhoys have bagged Greek forward Georgios Giakoumakis from Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo in a deal that could be worth up to £2.5m.

The 26-year-old struck a mind-blowing 26 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances last season despite Venlo's eventual relegation from the top-flight.

However, as Giakoumakis arrives at Celtic Park, Ryan Christie is expected to depart with Championship outfit Bournemouth the destination.

  • TOP TOM

Takehiro Tomiyasu made 31 appearances for Bologna last season, scoring two.

Arsenal are yet to announce his arrival.

  • ARRIVEDERCI AMPADU

Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu has signed a new three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, but there's no time to celebrate - he's off to Italy to play for Venezia.

The 20-year-old, who can operate in defence or midfield, has joined the Serie A club on loan until the end of the season in order to gain more top-flight experience.

The Welsh international featured 25 times for Sheffield United during their ill-fated Premier League campaign last term, having joined the Blades on a similar loan deal.

  • DOYLE HEADS TO HAMBURG

German club Hamburg have won the race to sign Manchester City’s young midfielder Tommy Doyle on loan.

A host of Championship clubs had wanted to take the 19-year-old for the season, but City have decided to send him to the Bundesliga 2 – the second tier in Germany.

Doyle has made seven appearances for City’s first team - mainly in cup competitions - and is highly-rated by many at the Etihad.

  • SAUL ON LOAN

Chelsea will seal the loan signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul TONIGHT.

According to reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will pay £4.2million to take the midfielder on loan for the season.

And the player WILL travel to London to sign a contract.

    SunSport's Andy Dillon understands there's a option to buy between £34.4million - £42.9m.

  • DONE DEAL: A ROYAL ARRIVAL FOR SPURS

Tottenham have completed the signing of right-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona in a deal in the region of £25m.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has represented his country on four occasions, and arrives in North London following two-and-a-half seasons at Real Betis.

Full name Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior, the defender supposedly acquired his nickname from an uncle who likened him to Brazilian Royal jelly.

Perhaps more impressively though is the statistic that shows Emerson made more tackles and interceptions combined than any other defender in La Liga last season.

Does this Royal's arrival mean it's curtains for Serge Aurier at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

  • DEAL KYL-ED

Real Madrid will NOT sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Real were willing to pay £189million for Mbappe.

But the Parisians stalled on the deal and it is definitely off this summer.

Mbappe's current contract runs out next summer and can negotiate a pre-contract from January meaning PSG will get nothing for him.

  • ARSENAL ‘PROJECT’

Willian’s agent Kia Joorabchian has taken a swipe at Arsenal saying there is no ‘project’ at the club.

Willian joined Arsenal last summer for the ‘project’, but failed to make an impact.

The Brazilian essentially tore up his contract, saving Arsenal £20million, allowing him to re-join boyhood club Corinthians.

Joorabchian told talkSPORT: “I think Willian did the right thing, he went for the project and the project wasn’t there.

“Unfortunately, I’d have to say, which player has moved to Arsenal that has not been a disaster in the last couple of years? That one I speak as a fan.

“I don’t think this is about Willian. I think something has gone wrong [at Arsenal] and this is just one piece of the puzzle.

“Nobody blames Arteta, we all want Arteta to do well. Even as fans, they might be disgruntled at the moment but they want the best for the football club. Willian wants all the success for Arteta and this Arsenal team.”

  • DONE DEAL: LEICESTER LAND LOOKMAN LOAN

Ademola Lookman has joined Leicester City on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.

The forward has moved to the King Power Stadium after completing a medical in the East Midlands this afternoon

Lookman spent last season on loan at Fulham, netting four goals from the left in 34 appearances, including the opener in the Cottagers' 2-1 win at Leicester.

The 23-year-old told the Foxes' official website: "I'm delighted to be here, it's a great honour to be at such an amazing club with such a huge history. The facilities are incredible and I can't wait to work here."

  • NAT'S MAGIC

Nathaniel Phillips became an unlikely cult hero at Anfield last season when he was brought into the first team to aid Liverpool's injury crisis - and now the centre-back has been rewarded with a new long-term contract at the club.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract, and hopes to build on the 20 appearances he made last term despite the return to fitness fo Virgil van Dijk.

  • ANGUISSA MOVES ON

As reported earlier, Fulham's Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa has joined Serie A club Napoli on an initial season-long loan with the option of making the transfer permanent next summer.

However, at the same time, Anguissa has also extended his contract at Craven Cottage until 2024, which means a possible return to London again if his stint in Naples doesn't work out.

The Cameroonian could yet make it back for Fulham's inevitable relegation from the Premier League once they canter to the Championship title next year.

  • FAB-TASTIC

Nuno Mendes will join Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an option to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The option to buy will be for £34.3million, rewarding Sporting Lisbon for their role in the left-back's incredible development.

Lisbon will also receive a £6m loan fee.

Sporting and PSG are also in talks for Pablo Sarabia, which could see the midfielder go the other way.
