The Dutch international was signed for £11.1million from Ajax to replace Manchester City-bound Claudio Bravo
BARCELONA'S new goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has admitted he thought it was 'a joke' that the club wanted to sign him.
The Dutch international was signed for £11.1million from Ajax to replace Claudio Bravo, who opted to join former Barca boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Cillessen will compete for the number one jersey at the Nou Camp with 24-year-old German Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Speaking to , Cillessen said: "When my agent told me [about Barcelona's interest] I asked him if it was a joke.
"I couldn't believe that the best club in the world was interested in me."
After signing a five-year-deal with Catalan club, Cillessen is already dreaming of silverware.
"I want to win titles at Barcelona and I would like to be the goalkeeper that wins the Champions League as a starter," he added.
Last season Bravo established himself as Luis Enrique's first choice, with ter Stegen often picked in the domestic cup and European games.
But with Bravo having departed, the gloves are out for who will run the season as first choice at the Nou Camp.
