Newcastle ‘open transfer talks with Tottenham outcast Dele Alli as alternative for Man Utd midfielder Jesse Lingard’

NEWCASTLE UNITED are reportedly targeting a transfer swoop for Dele Alli after boss Eddie Howe changed his mind over the Tottenham man.
The Premier League strugglers are desperate for reinforcements in attack despite already forking out £25m for Chris Wood from Burnley.
He was Newcastle’s second January signing following the capture of full-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid - but they want even more additions to help their survival bid.
Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard continues to be linked with a move to St. James’ Park despite a centre-half believed to have been Howe’s biggest area of concern.
That led to him initially opting against a move for Alli - now claims the Toon boss has performed a U-turn and sanctioned a move for the England international.
They state that ‘preliminary talks’ between Newcastle and Tottenham have begun already as Antonio Conte also looks to raise funds for an overhaul at Spurs.
Alli, 25, burst onto the scene with his displays as a teenager at MK Dons and earned himself a move to the North London side in 2015.
The step-up failed to phase him as he quickly became one of Spurs’ most-dangerous weapons and was soon rewarded with an England cap.

He continued to flourish under Mauricio Pochettino but his form dipped dramatically under successors Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and now Conte.
And even though his record of 51 goals in 181 appearances is still impressive, it seems Spurs are ready to sell him on and bring in new blood.
Midfielders Tanguy Ndombele and Steven Bergwijn are two others allegedly up for sale.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano even claimed last week that Alli could be part of a swap deal.
He said “The problem is about selling players. They need to sell players.
“So they want Ndombele to leave the club, they’ve offered him to Roma, but Roma are going for different players.
“They need the same for Bergwijn. He’s going to leave the club with Ajax interested in a move. Let’s see if they’ll be able to do it.
“Also Dele Alli. Keep an eye on him because they’re still looking for solutions and some swap deal could be the solution.”
