Crystal Palace line up £300k bargain transfer swoop for Derby striker Luke Plange with Rams holding out for more

LUKE PLANGE is wanted by Crystal Palace who hope to do a bargain deal with cash-strapped Derby for their young striker.

The Eagles are only prepared to offer around £300,000 but the administrators want more.

They planned to buy and loan back the ex-Arsenal kid, 19.

But that has been ruled out as the Rams cannot sign players under their EFL embargo.

Wayne Rooney's side were slapped with a TWO-SEASON transfer ban for failing to settle their debts.

But buying players is the least of Derby's problems after the EFL revealed plans to EXPEL the Rams from the division unless they can prove new sources of income to pay off their staggering debts.

The EFL have given Derby one month to find a backer before they decide to boot them out of the league.

The Rams were given a reprieve when they proved they have funds for February after selling left back Dylan Williams to Chelsea for a fee worth around £400,000 up front and with new cash backing from American financiers MSD Holdings.

However that only masks the troubles that stopped administrators Quantuma from providing a promised 'named bidder' to the EFL.

Quantuma were due to tell the League on Tuesday at a delayed meeting who their mystery saviour was but failed to deliver again.

And now, Derby are going for a fast-track legal decision on the compensation claims of Middlesbrough and Wycombe that threaten their existence.

Quantuma are unable to find a buyer until this massive problem is removed.
