TEE TOTAL TRAINING

Conor McGregor says he’s set to begin ‘full training’ for UFC comeback and plans to be completely sober for next fight

CONOR MCGREGOR has revealed he's set to begin 'full training' for his eagerly-anticipated return to the UFC - in which he'll completely abstain from alcohol.

The Irishman has been on the sidelines recovering from the horrific broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last July.

McGregor, 33, is plotting a spring return to sparring with a view to summer comeback fight, which he'll prepare for with a tee-total training camp.

In an Instagram post including a snap of himself outside with a bottle of his Proper No.12 whiskey and a pint of his Forged Stout, The Notorious wrote: "Sitting in actual awe at present. Can’t quite describe it.

"Last week, Saturday, the first day Ireland became free from restriction, and also coincidentally the anniversary of the late Arthur Guinness, @forgedirishstout outsold Guinness on premises for the first time.

"And everyday since! @forgedirishstout is now the clear leader in Stout sales for us! All of us in this industry know, for a Stout to do this is just unprecedented! Incredible!

"The fact it happened for the first time on that day in particular, I feel it a sign that I am on the right path here with all of this!
Onwards and upwards we go!

"For my fighting fans, I want to say I know I am enjoying myself with my liquid, but very soon I will be immersing myself in full training again with complete abstention from my wonderful creations of Spirit and Ale.

"Just 5 more minutes Ma."

Late last year, McGregor's manager Audie Attar revealed to SunSport that the former two-division champion's recovery is 'ahead of schedule'.

UFC president Dana White is anticipating a summer return for the Irishman, who has lost three of his last four outings.

When asked about McGregor competing this year, White told TMZ: "I think so, yeah.

"He's doing all the right things with his leg. I'm hoping he can come back this summer."

The UFC brass have yet to draw up any tentative plans for McGregor's return, although White recently admitted a rubber match with Nate Diaz could be a possibility.

When asked about a potential series decider between the bitter rivals, the MMA mogul told ESPN: "It could be [next].

"I think Conor will be back in summer. But I don’t know for sure. It depends on how his leg heals.

"There are a million things that could happen between now and then. To even speculate is stupid. I’ve stopped doing that.

"When McGregor contacts me and tells me he’s ready to start training 100 per cent, then we’ll start talking about what’s possible for Conor."
