CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has made a sensational move to Brentford until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has joined on a short-term contract just seven months after suffering a heart attack at Euro 2020.

There were fears the Denmark international’s playing days were over when he was fitted with a heart monitor after collapsing against Finland.

He left old club Inter Milan by mutual consent last month as Italian rules prevented him from playing with the device installed.

But Premier League new boys Brentford have offered him a career lifeline under former boss Thomas Frank.

Eriksen said in a message on : "I'm happy to announce that I've signed for Brentford Football Club. I can't wait to get started and hopefully I'll see you all very soon."

And Frank - who coached Eriksen as a Denmark youth international - said: “I am looking forward to working with Christian again. It has been a while since I last coached him, and a lot has happened since then.

“Christian was 16 at the time and has become one of the best midfield players to appear in the Premier League.

“He has also won trophies all over Europe and become the star of the Danish national team."

Eriksen has been training with the reserves at former employers Ajax to maintain his fitness after leaving Inter.

And Frank confirmed the ex-Tottenham man is in good shape - but will need some time to get back to match sharpness.

He added: “We have taken an unbelievable opportunity to bring a World Class player to Brentford.

"He hasn’t trained with a team for seven months but has done a lot of work on his own.

“He is fit but we will need to get him match fit and I am looking forward to seeing him work with the players and staff to get back towards his highest level.”

Spurs paid tribute to their former star with a social media message welcoming him back to the English top flight.
