Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backed to take over at Aberdeen having been out of work for three months since Man Utd sacking
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has been put forward for the Aberdeen manager's role by Charlie Nicholas.
The former Aberdeen and Arsenal striker wants The Dons to show some ambition and believes Solskjaer would be the perfect appointment.
He argues Solskjaer's managerial career has not been too illustrious outside of Manchester United so he could be willing to take over the reins at Pittodrie.
The Norwegian has been without a club since his dismissal from United three months ago and Nicholas has called on Aberdeen to at least try and talk to Solskjaer.
Nicholas wrote in the : "If Aberdeen really want to make a statement they should go and make an attempt to speak to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"I was thinking about managerial options for my old club and I would love them to go out and make a real statement of intent.
"Why not go and ask the former Manchester United manager if he is interested?
"People might say he has just managed one of the biggest clubs in the world, why would he even consider Aberdeen?

"I know and I get that but if you look at Solskjaer's CV away from United it has been at the likes of Molde and Cardiff.
"They are clubs who are of similar size and potential to Aberdeen.
"Why not show some ambition? Go and see if you could get a big-name to reignite the fire at Aberdeen again."
Aberdeen would have to persuade Solskjaer to move up north and that could prove difficult given his family commitments.
On Monday the former United boss returned to Carrington to drop off daughter Karna to train with the women's under-21 team.
