But most of the crosses were far too high for Alexandre Lacazette - who was leading the line - to get on the end of.

The Emirates faithful were baffled by the sheer number of aimless balls into the box and took to Twitter to express their dismay.

One asked: "Why are Arsenal players constantly whipping in float crosses to small fowards like Lacazette?

"Giroud left this club 4 years ago for goodness sake. There isn't anyone who is an areal presence at this club barring Gabriel.

"Why can't they just drill these crosses low!?"

Another asked: "Is Giroud still playing for Arsenal? Judging by the amount of crosses we do.

One remarked: ";A million crosses from Arsenal today. Did we forget that Giroud plays in Italy now?"

Arsenal's 32 first-half crosses were three shy of their highest number of balls into the box for an entire match this season.

That stat enraged even more fans, one of whom said: "We still keep hooking that ball into the penalty box without someone who can get on the end of these countless crosses with their head.

"Maybe it's time to put Holding up there last 10-15 instead of Nketiah.

"It's time to try Pepe up Top over Lacca."

Another said: "Wasteful half from Arsenal.

"Completely dominated play but careless crosses and lack of final third ability has cost us thus far."

The Gunners eventually breached Brentford's defence shortly after the restart, with Emile Smith Rowe firing them into the lead with a beautiful solo strike.

Bukayo Saka doubled their lead 11 minutes before the final whistle, although Christian Noergaard managed to pull one back for the visitors in stoppage time.
