Man City 4 Man Utd 1 LIVE RESULT: Riyad Mahrez adds fourth after De Bruyne double for superb City – latest updates

MANCHESTER CITY have routed their cross-town rivals United after two goals each for Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez.

De Bruyne hit two either side of half time, but the home side have attacked their rivals relentlessly.

Jadon Sancho had equalised for Manchester United at the home of fierce rivals City, who the winger used to play for.

But City have looked the bigger threat, with wave after wave of attacks laying siege to David De Gea's goal.

United are WITHOUT Cristiano Ronaldo as they look to grab a crucial three points at the home of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

City are just three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the league and need a big win against their enemies this afternoon.

SunSport revealed that CR7 failed to show up at the Lowry Hotel for team prep on Saturday and his absence has left United's senior players stunned.

  • Kick-off: Man City vs Man Utd

Man Utd get us started here at the Etihad Stadium.

A full-house here to see the blue and red sides of Manchester go head to head.

The pitch looks like a bowling green.

  • Sky high

The champions have scored a joint-high 36 goals in the Premier League at home this term and have only conceded nine.

City had won seven in a row at the Etihad Stadium prior to the shock defeat to Spurs.

The sun makes an appearance just before kick-off.

  • Manchester milestones

The last Englishman to score for City against United in the top-flight was James Milner in April 2013.

Kevin De Bruyne is one goal shy of 50 in the Premier League, he would become the fourth Belgian to reach the milestone.

United are still waiting for their first Premier League clean sheet of 2022.

  • Missing men

Ralf Rangnick confirmed that both Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw are not with the squad as a result of Covid-19.

Cristiano Ronaldo has a hip flexor injury.

Edison Cavani is still not over his groin problem.

  • League focus

Aside from team selections, formations and tactics after Arsenal's 3-2 win at Watford in the earlier kick-off, United find themselves fifth in the table.

With the North Londoners having two games in hand still, this is a must-win for Ralf Rangnick's United team.

The chances of finishing in the top four would be slim if City come out on top at the Etihad Stadium today.

  • Pep talk

They are faster, quicker and that's why we are going to defend for the first time deeper and use the counter-attack for 90 minutes.
