UFC 272 LIVE RESULTS: Covington BEATS Masvidal, Chaos wins bruising fight by unanimous decision – latest reaction
COLBY COVINGTON has beaten Jorge Masvidal after their war at UFC 272 went the distance.
There was no love-lost between the feuding pair, with Covington dominating much of the contest on the ground.
Masvidal did manage to rock his big rival with a huge right-hand in the fourth, but was unable to capitalise despite Chaos dropping to his knee.
Gamebred can have no complaints and didn't have an answer to the superior wrestling skills of his friend-turned-foe.
The judges agreed, scoring it a unanimous 49-46, 50-44, 50-55 the way of Covington.

Drake dissed
Colby Covington has mocked Drake after learning the rapper lost $275,000 betting on Jorge Masvidal to beat him.
In the post-fight press conference, a delighted Covington said: "Let's talk about all the money Drake lost tonight.
"He needs to go back to selling those s****y albums to get back the money.
"He should've gone to America's Pick of the Week by My Bookie. I tried to give the people the pick of the week.
"I'm America's champ and I'm America's Pick of the Week.
"Drake, you suck at sports betting. Go back to your s****y little albums and rapping."

A dejected Jorge Masvidal admits he didn't feel like himself in his grudge match with Colby Covington.
He said: "I should have had more moments like that, but I was off today. I didn't have it."
Not satisfied
Colby Covington was far from satisfied with his performance against Jorge Masvidal.
He said: "It wasn't my best performance. Just a lot of emotions going into it.
"That was a real friend of mine at one point in my career. ... I let my emotions get the best of me.
"But it was still dominant. I showed the world how good I was."
Title aspirations
Colby Covington is confident he'll eventually earn a trilogy fight with Kamaru Usman.
He said: "If he stays at 170 and keeps winning, eventually you have to give the kid a shot again."

UFC president Dana White has revealed Renato Moicano has been sent to the hospital following his bloody five-round war with Rafael dos Anjos.
White revealed: "He was the only one transported (to the hospital) for the night."
On sight
Jorge Masvidal says the feud with Colby Covington isn't over and it's still on sight when he sees him.
"He's still somebody that if I see in the streets that I'm gonna give it all I got."

Chaos opted to ride out the fifth round with his wrestling, much to the frustration of the fans in attendance.
Covington vs Masvidal – Round Four
A good stiff left from Covington sets Masvidal back a couple of steps.
Covington is working hard for that takedown but there's nothing doing with his single leg.
The pressure is continuing to come from Covington, who is pressing forward and mixing in his takedown attempts with solid combinations.
They separate and meet in the middle.
Cov ington has Masvidal hurt after landing a head kick. He's landing combo and after combo. Masvidal bobs and weaves and drops Covington with and overhand right.
And he's landed another. The tide has well and truly changed. But as I say that, Covington continues to come forward and throw punches in bunches.
Covington initiates a clinch to weather the storm - much to the disappointment of the crowd.
Covington vs Masvidal – Round Three
Masvidal partially lands a leg kick before Covington attempts one of his own.
Covington looks for a takedown and gets it. Chaos is going to work in full guard, dropping short punches and elbows on his former pal.
Covington's lack of output has fans booing and Herb Dean taking a look at initiating a stand-up.
Masvidal has his back and neck taken but gives a thumbs up to say he's okay before looking to transition out of the bad spot.
Masvidal almost get back to his feet but is prevented by a front head lock.
But they return to their feet with a couple of seconds to go. Masvidal lands a good left hand before cracking his old pal with an overhand right.
Covington vs Masvidal - Round Two
Masvidal misses with an overhand right that came from last week. Covington slips after attempting a head kick but Masvidal doesn't capitalise.
A nice low leg kick unbalanaces Covington. Masvidal seems more comfortable to throw his kicks after weathering Covington's wrestling storm.
Covington attempts a takedown but is met with stern resistance in a sprawl and numerous elbows to the head.
An accidental low blow from Covingtpn brings a halt to proceedings briefly.
Masvidal lands a nice two punch combo following an elbow in the clinch.
A straight right hand from Covingon snaps back Masvidal's neck - but he responds with a low kick that floors his pal.
Covington powers through in the transition and briefly takes the back. But Masvidal gets back to his feet and fires off a few strikes before Covington closes the distance.
Covington lands a good combo at the end of the round.
Covington vs Masvidal - Round One
Masvidal opens up with a jumping switch kick but Covington sees it coming a mile off.
Two leg kicks miss for Gamebred and they're followed up by a wayward left hand from Covington.
Covington shoots for a takedown after a grazing right hook but Masvidal is defending well so far.
They briefly hit the canvas but Masvidal pops right back up. Covington is being relentless with this takedown attempt but has yet full ground his former pal.
Masvidal briefly gives up his back but survives the half hearted choke attempt.
Covington still has the back and refusing to give up that advantageous position.
Masvidal is being wise not to make too drastic a movement and give up his neck.
Covington briefly gets full mount buy Masvidal works his way back to his feet to the delight of the crowd.
Covington ends the round with a good one-two combo.

The one we've all been waiting for will shortly be upon us. Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal is about to go down.
Former best friends turned rivals will finally clash after four years of trash talk.
The time for talking is finally over and they'll settle their differences inside the cage.
RDA wins
Rafael dos Anjos defeats countryman Renato Moicano via unanimous decision, with the judges scoring the bout 49–45, 49–44, 50–44 in his favour.
Dos Anjos vs Moicano – Round Five
The cageside doctor allows the fight to continue - despite Moicano's left eye nearly being closed shut.
Moicano is doing a decent job of defending himself, but that's all he's doing at this juncture.
Takedown for RDA but Moicano gets back to his feet. And he stings the former champ with a combination that draws a huge pop from the crowd.
Dos Anjos' two takedown attempts are stuffed by a resurgent Moicano - who is continuing to find a home for his shots.
A good one-two lands through the guard for Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos is being lax with his defence and getting caught necessarily.
They're swinging wildly and Moicano is landing. Dos Anjos gets cracked again and wisely shoots for a takedown.
The horn goes and the crowd goes wild.
Dos Anjos vs Moicano – Round Four
Moicano seems to have recovered from the beating he took in the third and is firing on all cylinders.
A nice three-punch combo snaps back the head of RDA - who is forced to bob and weave out of the ensuing strikes.
That proved to be the cue for Dos Anjos to take down his countryman again.
Dos Anjos is continuing to be unrelenting with his top game - which has been at its suffocating best tonight.
Moicano gets back to his feet before the end of the round but is bleeding like a stuck pig.
He careers into the octagon fence just after the horn. His corner should stop this.
Dos Anjos vs Moicano – Round Three
Dos Anjos is doing a good job of getting Moicano to bite on his feints and setting up body kicks.
But Moicano is slowly but surely growing into the bout. But just as I` say that Dos Anjos lands a thunderous head kick flush.
A second head kick lands for Dos Anjos that wobbles and floors Moicano.
Moicano has somehow managed to survive, perhaps down to the grace of ref Marc Goddard.
Dos Anjos is now in half guard and looking to pass to full mount.
The buzzer goes.
Dos Anjos vs Moicano – Round Two
Dos Anjos opens up the round with a hard body kick before going back to the outside and feinting.
A hard overhand right lands for the former lightweight champ as a knee up the middle comes up short for Moicano.
Dos Anjos cracks Moicano with a big straight left against the fence but stays in the pocket for too long and eats a right.
Takedown attempt for RDA is stuffed by short-notice replacement Moicano.
Dos Anjos slips dives under a straight right and secures a takedown against the fence.
Ground and pound - in the form of elbows - closes out the round for Dos Anjos.
Dos Anjos vs Moicano - Round One
Former champ Dos Anjos is the aggressor against his countryman but is getting beaten to the punch in several of the exchanges.
Big takedown from RDA just before the halfway point of the round and he's in full guard.
Big elbow lands for RDA after a minute of jostling for position.
Moicano, so far, has no answer for the crushing top pressure of Dos Anjos.
The round ends with RDA on top.
