NEWCASTLE UNITED are reportedly plotting an ambitious swoop to sign Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger.
The German defender is yet to agree a new contract with the Blues with his deal set to expire in June.
A host of European giants have been linked with the 29-year-old centre-back.
SunSport previously reported that the German's situation was being monitored by the Red Devils.
Ralf Rangnick is a ‘big fan’ of Rudiger and wants to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
Now claims that Saudi-backed Newcastle are targeting him.
Eddie Howe has managed to steer the Magpies away from the drop zone after being backed in the January transfer window.
And now they reportedly have their sights set on what would be an eye-catching deal.

However, the centre-back’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block as Newcastle’s new owners allegedly do not want to go over their £200,000-a-week wage structure and will only offer him that.
Both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also want Rudiger - and he is aware that he could pocket around £400,000-a-week by joining them for nothing.
The Blues most recent contract offer to Rudiger is believed to have been around half of that figure.
He has won the Champions League, Europa League, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup during his five years at Stamford Bridge.
