Dana White not thinking about Conor McGregor’s next fight despite revealing he could make UFC return in ‘early fall’

UFC supremo Dana White isn't thinking about Conor McGregor's next fight - despite the Irishman being close to fighting fit.

The Notorious is currently in the final stages of recovering from the horrific broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last July.

But UFC poster boy's faster-than-anticipated recovery hasn't prompted White or the matchmakers to devise any plans for his return

He told : “I’m not worried about it [finding McGregor an opponent] because, first of all, Conor is not even fighting right now.

"He’s not back until the Fall [Autumn] – if everything goes right.

“So a lot of the match-ups will play out this summer and whoever wins or loses, when Conor is cleared by a doctor and ready to go, we’ll figure out who’s next.”

White's revealing of his lack of concern about McGregor's next opponent came 24 hours after he told SunSport that the biggest star in MMA history will likely be back in action in 'early fall'.

The veteran promoter said: "We're looking at early fall, if everything goes right."

White's current timeline for McGregor's return is contingent on doctors giving the former two-division champion the all-clear to resume full martial arts training.

He added: "If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall."

White's comments on McGregor's return came a few weeks after Mystic Mac publicly set his sights on headlining International Fight Week on July 2.

He told "I would like [to return at] International Fight Week. But we'll see, though. I've got to take it day by day.

"April they said I'd be back sparring, back twisting and turning. I was told I could box a couple of months back and then all of sudden, I couldn't box.

"So I'm just taking it day by day, there's no rush. I'm in a great place mentally.

"Physically, I feel strong, I feel energetic. I'm always eager to get in a fight, so [I'll] just take it day by day and it'll happen.

"It will happen when the Lord wants it to happen."
