Odegaard joined Los Blancos in 2015 from Stromsgodset and went through various loan stints at Heerenveen, Vitesse, Real Sociedad and Arsenal, whom he joined on a permanent deal last summer.

The attacking midfielder knows a lot about life at the Bernabeu and confirmed that him and his fellow Norwegian Haaland spoke about it but it was "not anything special".

Odegaard said while on international duty with Norway: "We are good friends so we talk about lots of things, like when I was there.

"So yeah we talked about it but it’s not anything special."

Haaland and Odegaard will be in action when Norway host Slovakia on Friday and Armenia on Tuesday.

The Borussia Dortmund star looks set to leave the Westfalenstadion at the end of the season.

Real, however, have made Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe their top target to lead their attack.

The 21-year-old striker will be available for a bargain £63million release clause by April 30.

Haaland has been stricken by injury this season but has still managed to score a whopping total of 23 goals in as many matches.

The centre-forward has amassed a staggering 80 goals and 21 assists in 82 appearances across all competitions since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.
