Pep, a huge golf fan, said: “I’m looking forward to Sunday but Saturday would be better.

“I’m a little bit upset with the Premier League as they put the game for when Tiger Woods is back!”

Asked about his rivalry with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is something he will never forget – even when he is retired and out on the golf course.

He said: “I will remember my period here when I’m watching and playing golf, I’ll remember my biggest rivals was Liverpool, for sure.

“Absolutely we wouldn’t be as good but for them, after 100 points, with 98 and they are just behind you have someone pushing you, you have to make another step.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola has also quashed reports he will leave the Etihad - insisting he wants to stay the club at for the next decade, despite not signing a new deal yet.

His current contract expires in summer 2023 and the former Barcelona coach has said much will depend on how he feels in the opening months of next season.

The Brazil national team are also in recruiting Guardiola to replace their boss Tite.

But Pep declared "I'm so happy here" ahead of the crunch match with Liverpool.

“I’m willing to stay for ever here because there cannot be a better place to be. I’d extend the contract ten years – although I couldn’t.”
