DARWIN NUNEZ has sparked hopes he could move to Manchester United after calling their striker Edinson Cavani "my idol".
The Benfica striker is set to be one of the hottest Premier League transfer targets this summer.
Cavani himself allegedly alerted Red Devil's management to his fellow countryman last year, report .
The usually tight-lipped 22-year-old forward has always insisted his mind is on Benfica, where he has been in tantalizing form scoring 32 goals in 37 appearances this season.
However, journalist quoted Nunez as saying: “I really don’t know what’s gonna happen.
"But I’m not gonna speak about my future before the end of the season.”

He then went on to make his comment about Cavani.
It is no secret that there is Premier League interest in the Uruguayan international with Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal all linked with a transfer.
This is the first indication that Manchester United could have an edge in Nunez's thinking should he make a move to England from the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
If United were to snag him they would need to cough up, with Benfica wanting at least £60million to let go of their star forward.

Nunez also recently sacked his representatives which could be an indication of an impending transfer.
In a statement on Twitter, he said: "I want to clarify that I will not renew my contract with my representative Edgardo Lasalvia."
Ironically, he could replace Cavani in the side.
The veteran is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the year, so a new striker is needed especially with their struggles up front this season.
Interim coach Ralf Rangnick said: "Edinson's contract is running out in the summer and the club needs the best possible centre-forward.
"I think everyone is aware of that."
