MANCHESTER UNITED superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's future is reportedly undecided by incoming Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

The 37-year-old scored a hat-trick against Norwich this weekend, but due to the Ajax coach's high intensity football, he could leave the club in the summer as part of a major player exodus at Old Trafford.

insiders at Old Trafford feel that Ronaldo's strong personality and desire to win does not rub off well on other players and have spoken about if ditching Ronaldo would improve the atmosphere around the club.

It's added that Ten Hag will play a role in the decision and that he is still unsure on whether Ronaldo can play a role next term .

Ronaldo's running stats are some of the lowest in the league, but he has scored 21 goals in all competitions for the club, including six Champions League goals.

Ten Hag has managed to work with less energetic footballers, like former Southampton player Dusan Tadic, who has excelled under him.

With Edinson Cavani leaving and Mason Greenwood's off-field issues, that leaves United with only Ronaldo to play upfront going into next season.

Benfica's Darwin Nunez has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester and could solve the attacking problems at the club if signed.

SunSport exclusively revealed back in January that Ronaldo’s representatives and United's new CEO Richard Arnold sat down for talks over his future.

United can still qualify for the Champions League, but Ronaldo was concerned about where United were heading under Ralf Rangnick.

It's thought if United fail to qualify for Europe's elite competition, he could seek a move elsewhere.

Ten Hag is expected to be announced this coming week after United decided on their man to replace current manager Rangnick.

United are said to have met the Ajax coach's demands over the direction of the squad and he is expected to bring his Ajax assistant Mitchell van der Gaag and one other assistant to the club.

Ajax play PSV in the Dutch cup final today and an announcement or some sort of confirmation about talking the Manchester United job could follow soon after.

United are three points off fourth place Tottenham Hotspur and are level with Arsenal having played a game more than Mikel Arteta's side in the race for top four.
