MANCHESTER UNITED really are having a stinker right now.

The one-time giants of English football have been trolled by a cheeky Manchester City fan in a disgustingly-smelly way outside The Etihad.

City faced Brighton on Wednesday evening looking to jump back above Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.

But one creative City fan had other things on his mind as he made his way to the Etihad Stadium.

The supporter in question spotted horse poo on the ground - likely from a police horse - and attached a card bearing a provocative message.

Labelling the poo in question, the fan wrote: "If found, return to Old Trafford!

"Call the Old Trafford line on 61-61-61-61," a reference to City's famous 6-1 win at Old Trafford in 2012.

The cheeky message comes a day after United were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool in a mauling at Anfield.

United have been widely criticised in the aftermath of the humiliation with Paul Scholes saying the club is unrecognisable.

Roy Keane tore into several players immediately after the defeat and claimed players, staff and even the manager are already on holiday.

The former captain also admitted he now feels sorry for the club, saying sadness has now replaced the anger most fans previously felt.

City's season has been a complete contrast to their neighbours, with the Red Devils set to end the campaign trophyless.

Pep Guardiola's side were beaten in the FA Cup semi-final by Liverpool on Saturday but will still fancy their chances to claim the Premier League title as well as the Champions League.
