QPR and Sheffield United leading five-way transfer scramble for Oxford’s former Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan

CAMERON BRANNAGAN is the subject of a five-way transfer battle from Championship clubs.

The hotshot Oxford midfielder, 25, has scored 14 goals this season.

And that has attracted interest from Sheffield United, QPR, Stoke, Preston and Blackpool.

The five clubs have all enquired about Brannagan, who has one year left on his contract at the Kassam Stadium.

League One outfit Oxford, who are eighth in the table, cannot gain promotion to the second tier of English football.

Karl Robinson's side will want good money for Manchester-born Brannagan, who came through the ranks at Liverpool.

Blackpool tried hard to sign Brannagan in January but failed to land a deal.

Normally, the goalscoring midfielder would be valued at £2.5million.

But, with only 12 months left on his current deal, he could leave for a cut-price fee under £1m.

QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand was also in attendance at Oxford's clash with MK Dons only last month.

Brannagan bagged a hat-trick of prizes at Oxford's end-of-season bash.

He was named supporters’ player of the year and players’ player of the year, and won the Joey Beauchamp Goal of the Season for his long-range strike against Portsmouth.
