Liverpool ‘back in Kylian Mbappe transfer race as Real Madrid talks stall in deal that could see Mohamed Salah quit’

But a switch to Anfield seems to be back on the cards as the soon-to-be free agent's negotiations with Real have hit a snag over his image rights, according to .

The LaLiga champions usually hold 50 per cent of a player's image rights, but that doesn't suit Mbappe who wants full control.

Madrid's stubbornness could cost them the chance to sign arguably the world's best striker this summer, the report adds.

Mbappe's lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, is reportedly currently embroiled in a battle with the French Football Federation over his branding and they do not want that fight in Spain, too.

And with both parties seemingly unwilling to budge, Liverpool have emerged as an alternative option for the Ligue 1 current top scorer.

Although any potential transfer will see the Reds offload contract rebel Mo Salah to accommodate Mbappe's hefty wage demands.

PSG hope their contract proposal of £820,000-a-week will be enough to keep Mbappe in France.

And Jurgen Klopp's side won't be able to match or come close to the French champions' offer to Mbappe if they attempt to meet Salah's demands, the report states.

But Liverpool reportedly have no intention of keeping hold of Salah - or his attacking compatriots Sadio Mane and Roberto Firminho when the trio's contracts expire in summer 2023.

This opens the door for Mbappe's arrival on Merseyside to spearhead a new dynamic attack along with Luis Diaz who the Reds brought in January.

The outcome of the Champions League final clash between Liverpool and Real in Paris on May 28 may also have an impact on Mbappe's decision.
