Can Rangers qualify for the Champions League if they lose the Europa League final?

If Rangers had won the Europa League, they would have entered next season's Champions League as one of eight top seeds.

However, they can still play Champions League football in 2022/23.

They will also play in the Europa League group stage at a minimum next season.

Thanks to Rangers and Celtic's improved European performances over the past five years, Scotland is entitled to two Champions League qualifying places.

The Scottish Premiership winner typically enters the champions' qualifying tournament while the runner-up enters the runners'-up qualifying tournament at the second qualifying round.

However, due to the expulsion of Russia from next season's Champions League, Celtic have already earned themselves an automatic group stage spot after winning the league.

After their defeat to Frankfurt, Rangers will enter the Champions League at the third qualifying round stage.

From there, they will need to win two ties to enter the Champions League group stage.

If they lose in either the third qualifying round or the play-off round, they will enter the Europa League group stage.
