Ryder Cup star Danny Willett apologises for brother Peter’s vicious attack on Team USA
Peter Willett called the Americans 'pudgy, basement-dwelling irritants, stuffed on cookie dough and pi**y beer'
DANNY WILLETT has issued a grovelling apology to the USA Ryder Cup team, their captain David Love III and the America fans for his brother’s vicious tirade against them.
Peter Willett launched a range of insults against Europe’s rivals in a blog he was writing for a golf magazine.
Danny said:"It's just disappointing, firstly to write it and to come out of with it during Ryder Cup week
"I have spoken to him and said it was a bad article written at a bad time.
"It doesn't reflect what myself, the team or captain Clarke thinks about players or fans, or anyone for that matter.
"It was disappointing that I was associated with it. You don't want people to think badly of yourself."
"Obviously I had the best week of my life a few months ago and that was in front of a fantastic American crowd.
"I feel like they took me under the wing pretty well going down that back nine.
"I immediately went off the golf course and had a good chat to Davis about it.
"I apologised in the hope we can draw a line under it and get back to what is a fantastic golf tournament."
Peter Willett also called the Americans "pudgy, basement-dwelling irritants, stuffed on cookie dough and pi**y beer, pausing between mouthfuls of hotdog so they can scream 'Baba booey' until their jelly faces turn red."
His amazing outburst in the National Club Golfer magazine had Ryder Cup rookie Danny desperately trying to distance himself from those remarks – before phoning his brother to ask him what the hell he was up to.
European captain Darren Clarke commented: “Listen, I just was made aware of the article about an hour ago. I hadn't seen it. As soon as I did, I went out to find Danny, who was playing in the last group out there this morning.
“I spoke to Danny about it. I showed it to Danny, and he's bitterly disappointed in his brother's article. It is not what Danny thinks. It is not what I think. It is not what Team Europe stands for.

“So Danny was unaware of it, and he fully intends to speak to his brother and express his displeasure to his brother about it.
“I was obviously very disappointed in it, as well, because that's an outside person expressing their opinion which is not representative of what our thoughts are. That is not the way that we view things.
“I mean, the fans could not have been nicer and better to us this week, and -- hopefully that continues. The article was beyond our control, and you know, Danny is bitterly disappointed himself.
“It's up to Danny to speak to his brother and express that. I will let him deal with it between siblings. So Danny will resolve that.”
Peter Willett, a Yorkshire schoolteacher, cashed in on his brother’s Masters success with a series of tweets –some of them fairly amusing – posted while Danny was charging towards Augusta glory.
But there have been signs that Danny has become increasingly irritated at his brother’s antics - and he is certain to blow his top after being put in such an embarrassing situation on the eve of his first Ryder Cup.
His brother’s offensive attack went on: “Team USA have only won five of the last 16 Ryder Cups. Four of those five victories have come on home soil.
“For the Americans to stand a chance of winning, they need their baying mob of imbeciles to caress their egos every step of the way.
"Like one of those brainless bastards from your childhood, the one that pulled down your shorts during the school’s Christmas assembly. (f**k you, Paul Jennings), they only have the courage to keg you if they’re backed up by a giggling group of reprobates.
“Team Europe needs to shut those groupies up. They need to stun the angry, unwashed, Make America Great Again swarm.
“They need to smash the obnoxious dads, with their shiny teeth, Lego man hair, medicated ex-wives, and resentful children.
“Squeezed into their cargo shorts and boating shoes, they’ll bellow ‘get in the hole’ whilst high-fiving all the other members of the Dentists’ Big Game Hunt Society.
“If these things happen, Europe will win, and I’ll try to support gracefully by embracing the same sense of fair-mindedness that has permeated this unbiased article.
“If not, the Americans will claim their second victory this century… those fat, stupid, greedy, classless, bastards.”
Willett later showed little sign of remorse on his Twitter account. He tweeted: “Sorry to any American followers... but I mean every word. COME ON Team Europe.”
