Darwin Nunez’s former coach reveals what type of player Liverpool-bound striker is… and is mix of two Uruguay legends

THE FORMER coach of Liverpool-bound Darwin Nunez has revealed what type of player the 22-year-old is, with results which will surely whet the appetite to see him play.
Nunez has agreed to an £85million transfer to swap Benfica for Liverpool, at an initial fee of £64million.
The striker scored 34 goals in all competitions last season, including two against Liverpool in the Champions League when the two sides met in the quarter-finals.
If this wasn't enough, he has now also been provided with a glowing reference by his former coach, Leonardo Ramos.
Ramos coached the Uruguayan while he was still in his native country with Penarol at the age of 17.
Speaking to , Ramos said: "He has a style similar to that of [Edinson] Cavani, but it seems to me that Darwin is faster and more powerful.

"He is much more explosive and apart from that explosiveness he obviously showed incredible scoring ability.
"It has two parts, it is half and half between [Luis] Suarez and Cavani. He has the power that Suarez had to go for everything, to go to the clash and fight with the rival.
"And he also has Cavani's part, of being a much more athletic, more physical, smarter player. I think it's a union of those two things."
If such comparisons turn out to be accurate, then Liverpool will have one very good player on their hands.

The Reds have first-hand experience of the devastating impact of Suarez, who scored 82 goals and had a hand in another 46 from just 133 appearances while playing his football at Anfield.
Cavani's class was mostly highlighted prior to his time in the Premier League.
His time at Manchester United was quite stop-start due to the constant injuries he suffered. But he still managed a respectable 19 goals and seven assists from 59 games.
However, his records at previous clubs Napoli and PSG were far more impressive. He netted 118 goals and assists in 137 games with Napoli, while at PSG he contributed 243 G/A in 301 games.

The pair also boast an impressive 126 goals between them at international level, often being paired up together up front.
This summer, both are free agents after being released by their respective clubs but at their best they were among the best forwards in European football - a title Liverpool hope Nunez will inherit from his predecessors.
