Paris Saint-Germain 2 Bordeaux 0: Edinson Cavani’s brace ensures Unai Emery’s side got back to winning ways in Ligue 1
The 29-year-old's two first-half goals brought back to back wins for PSG following their Champions League win over Ludogorets
EDINSON CAVANI has hit the ground running this season and his goals at the Parc des Princes against Bordeaux were enough to get Paris Saint-Germain back to winning ways.
Unai Emery's side lost their last Ligue 1 game Toulouse last Friday, so it was crucial the French Champions got back to winning ways.
Cavani got the hosts off to a magnificent start after scoring the opener after just three minutes, when the Uruguayan international powerfully headed home Angel di Maria's cross.
Bordeaux were lacklustre in possession and struggled to threaten Alphonse Areola's goal.
But Cavani's second goal on the half-hour mark was the stand-out moment in the match as his piece of skill saw him elegantly flick the ball into the bottom corner, leaving the Bordeaux keeper Cedric Carrasso with no chance.
PSG's striker, who now boasts a record of nine goals in eight games in all competitions, then ambitiously tried another backheel shortly after the break, but this time Carrasso was able to deny him.
Di Maria had a frustrating afternoon after seeing two goals disallowed for offside.
Hatem Ben Arfa made his first appearance in six games after coming on from the bench, after he was left out of the first team by Emery in recent weeks.
Emery will be desperate to build on their back-to-back wins as they face Nancy away in Ligue 1 before hosting Basel in the Champions League.
