Toni Kroos ‘rejects new Real Madrid contract with deal up at end of next season leaving club chiefs stunned’

TONI KROOS has reportedly rocked Real Madrid by rejecting a new contract.

The 32-year-old has been at the Bernabeu since 2014 and played a key role in their multiple successes since his arrival.

The midfielder has helped them to three LaLiga titles as well as four Champions League crowns during that period.

Fresh from lifting Europe’s biggest prize again last month, the club are keen to tie-down Kroos to a new deal.

The German World Cup winner has entered the final year of his contract and is wanted by Juventus.

However, Cadena Ser via has claimed that he has snubbed an extension offered by Madrid.

And they state that he will not renew as he hopes to leave as a free agent next summer, with adding that he fears his lack of playing time could be reduced due to the competition for places.

Kroos has spoken about a new contract on several occasions previously, saying it would depend on what he feels he can still offer to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

And this fresh report states that his decision is not personally money motivated.

In fact, it claims that the £210,000-a-week star does not want to become a financial burden on Madrid.

Kroos hit the headlines last month just seconds after Madrid beat Liverpool in the Champions League final when he stormed off from an interview with German broadcasters ZDF after being probed about Real's form in the final and tournament itself.

Kroos said in German: "You had 90 minutes to come up with good questions - honestly and then you come up with two s*** questions.

"It was obvious that it would be difficult against Liverpool, what's this question?

"We don't play the group stage here, we are playing the Champions League final.

"Terrible, honestly terrible. You only ask two negative questions, you know directly that you come from Germany."
