Baltimore Ravens star Jaylon Ferguson, 26, found dead ‘with no signs of trauma’ after missing practice days before
NFL star Jaylon Ferguson has been found dead with no signs of trauma, cops confirmed, days after the linebacker missed practice with an injury.
The Baltimore Ravens announced the tragic news on Wednesday via their Twitter page, calling Ferguson, 26, a "respectful young man with an infectious personality."
"We are profoundly saddened by the sudden passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality," the team said.
"We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon's family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon."
The statement did not disclose the cause of death.
Baltimore City police revealed that a victim, later identified as Ferguson, died in a "questionable death" on Tuesday evening.
However, cops told they do not suspect foul play and added there were no signs of trauma.
The linebacker's death comes after Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh revealed that Ferguson was one of two players that missed practice on Thursday.
“A couple little things you might be looking at from practice: ‘Snoop’ [Tyler Huntley] has a little tendinitis in his shoulder from all the throws, so we just gave him rest the last two days [for] that, so he’ll be fine," Harbaugh told the .
"Jaylon [Ferguson] had an ankle sprain from yesterday – you saw that – so that’s why we held him out. And Nick Boyle just had the day off; it was in his rotation.”

Harbaugh said Ferguson suffered a mild ankle sprain during practice on Wednesday.
The Ravens drafted Ferguson in 2019 out of Louisiana Tech, where he was known as "Sack Daddy".
He holds the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) record for career sacks with 45.
ESPN reports that the six-foot-five player was a third-round pick when he was drafted by the Ravens and had taken part in all of the team's 2022 offseason practices.
Since joining the Ravens, Ferguson completed 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
In his , Ferguson recorded nine quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks.
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport shared a statement from his agent, Safarrah Lawson.
It read: "It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson.
"The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this trying time."
Teammates of Ferguson's also shared some kind words on social media following the upsetting news.
Ravens middle linebacker Patrick Queen : "My brother. I love you man."
"The last person I talked to leaving the facility," Queen said in a follow-up tweet.
"Spent almost everyday in the sauna together tryna see who gone last longer. Said it was our turn this year man. Ima miss you bro."
The team's veteran safety, retweeted the Ravens' statement on Ferguson's death, and wrote: "my young life . Love you bro."
Ravens fullback tweeted: "I can’t believe this. Just absolutely tragic. RIP #SackDaddy."
