Everton open talks with Tottenham over Harry Winks as they look to beat Crystal Palace and Sevilla to transfer
EVERTON have begun talks with Tottenham over a move for Harry Winks.
The England midfielder, 26, is free to leave Spurs this summer as he does not figure prominently in Antonio Conte’s plans.
Toffees boss Frank Lampard has identified Winks, who has ten caps for his country, as someone who can improve his central-midfield options.
Negotiations are at an early stage.
Everton still face competition from the likes of Crystal Palace and Sevilla.
Spurs feel they have enough in the middle of the park.

They signed Yves Bissouma for £30million from Brighton, to add to Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.
Winks has been with Tottenham since the age of six.
He has racked up 203 appearances for his boyhood club in all competitions.
Winks impressed in the early days of Conte’s reign, shining in November’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Yet he was used sparingly in the second half of the campaign following Bentancur’s signing from Juventus as Spurs sealed a Champions League spot.
Everton are yet to do any business in the transfer window but face a battle to keep hold of Brazilian forward Richarlison.
