Piers Morgan owes Great Ormond Street hospital £10,000 after he loses a bet not to mention Arsene Wenger’s name

Piers Morgan promised Gary Lineker he would pay £10,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital if he mentioned Arsene Wenger's name in public

PIERS MORGAN has lost a bet with Gary Lineker not to mention Arsene Wenger's name in public.

A tweet earlier today posted by Morgan mentioned the Arsenal manager and Lineker noticed it and duly told Morgan to cough up.

Banter has often been the order of the day between the pair as they take swipes at one another's views but its clear they both agree that the real winner is Great Ormond Street.

Lineker's son was treated at the hospital when he was a baby so the money is going to a very good cause in what has been a little bit of fun for the two when the bet was made.

Morgan has been critical of Wenger in recent years going as far back to November 2008 to call for his sacking after a 3-0 defeat away to Manchester City.

The Gunners lost their 5th game of the Premier League campaign to an upcoming City side and Morgan was critical of how Arsenal had changed their player recruitment policy.

The North London side were always a powerful team with tall athletic players such as Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit and Thierry Henry.

But Wenger had just started to opt for the small technical players such as Barcelona although without the same results.

Twitter has given the ex-Britain's Got Talent judge to vent his frustration of the poor results of recent years Arsenal have sustained under the Frenchman.

So to try and calm himself down Morgan decided he needed an excuse not to mention the managers name and today he slipped up.

Talking about Arsenal's dramatic late winner at Burnley yesterday, Morgan tweeted: ''Love the passion, let me clarify again, I respect Wenger the man, I don't respect his 'right' to remain manager as long as he likes.'
