Rigobert Song: Ex-Liverpool and West Ham defender ‘no longer in a coma’ as he fights for life after stroke
RIGOBERT SONG is reportedly no longer in a coma and breathing unassisted as he fights for his life after suffering a stroke in Cameroon.
Song is not out of the woods yet but it will give some hope that he can recover from the shock stroke where some feared the worst for the ex-footballer.
The former Liverpool, West Ham defender has now been flown to France for more specialised care, according to reports.
The 40-year-old, who is the uncle of ex-Arsenal, West Ham and Charlton midfielder Alex, was rushed to hospital in Yaounde on Sunday.
The former Indomitable Lions captain and head coach of the Chad senior national team was in a critical condition after suffering a cerebral aneurysm.

Song was at his home in the Odza neighbourhood in Yaounde when he had his stroke, and was rushed to hospital.
The footballing world was quick to show their support for Song.
Fellow Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o posted a picture of Song to Instagram with the caption: “I wish you a lot of courage and a speedy recovery big brother!”
Ex-Liverpool stars Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler also posted messages of support.
