Goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial in the first half sent United fans into pandemonium.

Defender Bailly, known for his unorthodox defending, then produced a dazzling run into the Liverpool half to set up United's fourth goal of the game.

The 28-year-old cut out a pass to launch a counter-attack, dropping a shoulder and dribbling past Thiago before passing the ball to Facundo Pellistri.

With the Ivorian continuing his run into the Liverpool penalty box the youngster then exchanged a one-two with Amad Diallo before placing a shot into the bottom corner.

Reacting to the moment of magic from Bailly, one United fan said: "A fit Bailly is better than all epl defenders combined."

Many seemed to share this train of thought, while some aimed a dig towards United captain Harry Maguire.

One fan wrote: ";So clear of Maguire it ain’t even funny any more."

Another said: "This guy still got it! And a far better defender than the so-called captain!!!"

One even whipped up an image of Bailly holding the Ballon d'Or.

Of course, this is only pre-season friendly, but this result should serve as a positive springboard for the United team as Ten Hag gets them into shape ahead of the Premier League season.

Bailly is one of a number of players to get the green light to pursue futures elsewhere as United look to mould a new squad capable of challenging for trophies.

Club talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is included in this list after handing in a transfer request, with interest in him reportedly coming from Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
