Man Utd and Tottenham transfer blow as Juventus ‘open talks with Villarreal to sign Pau Torres’
JUVENTUS have reportedly opened talks with Manchester United and Tottenham target Pau Torres.
Villarreal defender Torres has courted interest from a number of clubs in Europe over the last two years thanks to a string of impressive displays for the Yellow Submarine.
Premier League big boys Man Utd and Spurs were believed to be leading the race for the Spain international.
But their reported pursuits could be scuppered after Juventus opened talks with the 25-year-old.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Torres has given his agents the "all-clear" to discuss a move to the Serie A giants.
The Italian newspaper also claims Torres rejected the opportunity to join Spurs last summer in favour of another season at Estadio de la Ceramica.
United's interest in signing the defender is said to have cooled following their pursuit of Ajax ace Lisandro Martinez.
Torres' future with Villarreal is in doubt after he refused to rule out a summer exit.
He said: “Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year.
“I have peace of mind of being where they want me, at the club of my life and I have this offer right now that I value as very positive.
