Nottingham Forest’s £10milion transfer swoop for Lewis O’Brien held up by bizarre clause in Huddersfield contract
NOTTINGHAM FOREST’S bid for Lewis O’Brien is being delayed over a bizarre ‘extra’ cost.
The Huddersfield midfielder, 23, has a fixed £10million fee in his deal — but it is more for a promoted club.
And while the clubs haggle, the Terriers have increased their offer for Halifax centre-half Jesse Debrah, 22.
O'Brien is among Forest's top targets amid a busy summer transfer window following their Premier League promotion.
SunSport understand the play-off winners have been looking to complete a "double package" including the 23-year-old and Huddersfield team-mate Harry Toffolo.
A deal for the pair would cost Steve Cooper's side a fee in the region of £8m-10m.

If Forest manage to sign the Terriers duo then that will take their number of summer transfers to 10.
The promoted club has already landed Neco Williams, Ryan Hammond, Taiwo Awoniyi, Omar Richards, Giulian Biancone, Dean Henderson, Moussa Niakhate and Wayne Hennessey.
O'Brien joined Huddersfield's academy in 2009 and earned a senior call-up in 2018.
The midfielder was shipped out on loan that same year to Bradford and was established in the first team in 2019.
