Andy Goram funeral: Rangers stars, Ibrox icons, Sir Alex Ferguson and Scotland heroes pay respects to legendary goalie

RANGERS stars past and present have joined mourners at the funeral service for Ibrox great Andy Goram.

The Goalie passed away earlier this month at the age of 58 after battling cancer.

The funeral cortege left Blantyre around midday before making its way to Ibrox.

The streets around the famous old stadium were lined with Rangers fans who were there to give Goram an emotional send off.

Ally McCoist and John Brown, two of the legendary 'keeper's former teammates and closest friends, were waiting outside the doors and leading the applause.

Members of Goram's family laid floral tributes at the stadium.

The cortege then left Ibrox for the Wellington Church in the Hillhead area of Glasgow where the private funeral service took place.

Images show current Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst arriving with the current squad to pay their respects.

They were joined by a host of club icons and former teammates of Goram, including McCoist, Brown, Stuart McCall and Richard Gough.

More recent Gers heroes such as Barry Ferguson, Marvin Andrews and Alex Rae were all pictured arriving at the church.

Kilmarnock boss, and former Rangers midfielder, Derek McInnes was pictured arriving alongside McCall and Gordon Durie.

Mourners were also joined by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The legendary former Manchester United and Aberdeen manager was the boss who called up Goram to the Scotland national team for the first time in 1985.

Several former Scotland players also paid their respects, including former captain Colin Hendry.

Club directors including managing director Stewart Robertson also attended the service.

Rangers also left a floral tribute. It read: "Always remembered.

"From the board, management, players and staff of Rangers Football Club."

Ex-goalkeeper Alan Rough was among former Celtic players in attendance.

Sir Rod Stewart, a well known Celtic supporter himself, left his own floral tribute.

The music star said: "One of Scotland's finest.

"Rest in peace Andy. From Sir Rod Stewart."
