Liverpool vs Man City LIVE: Darwin Nunez heads in for first goal as Reds win Community Shield

DARWIN NUNEZ swooped in to head home for his first Liverpool goal in the 3-1 Community Shield win over rivals Manchester City.

Mo Salah had fired the Reds in front late on from the penalty spot before new boy Nunez's diving header.

In a break with tradition, this year's match was played at Leicester as Wembley is hosting the Women's Euro 2022 final.

    His cross is tipped away at full stretch as Ederson comes out to deal with the cross.

    17. City are knocking the ball around, trying to control the tempo of the game.

    It is plain to see that they want to slow things down and not play at Liverpool's pace.

    Something to note for Klopp, it may be the way to unpick this City side with his 'heavy metal', high tempo football.

    They seem to think switching play from one flank to the other will stretch Man City.

    De Bruyne wins the loose ball and runs towards goal.

    He lets fly from distance but Adrian tips the ball wide of the goal.

    The corner kick does not come to anything.

    City are finding it difficult to get the ball of them and retain it.

    He is bundled to the floor and wins a free kick just inside the Liverpool half.

    City seem to be nervous of the quickness of The Reds on the break.

    Diaz tries to get a shot off at goal but it is well blocked.

    While his career with the club was cut short due to a career-ending injury, his son will be hoping to make a name for himself amongst City fans.

    Scoring today and leading Pep's new look team to Community Shield success would be a great way to start his Man City career.

    Liverpool's victories in both the EFL Cup and FA Cup last season came from penalty shootout victories over Chelsea.

    However, The Reds last two Community Shield defeats have come from 12 yards.
