Odegaard reveals Haaland transfer exchange
Martin Odegaard has revealed Erling Haaland laughed at his attempt to get the striker to Arsenal.
Odegaard tried his best to get his Norway team-mate to the Gunners before he joined Man City.
But Haaland had no interest in a move to Arsenal, despite Odegaard's best efforts.
He explained to talkSPORT: "We speak almost every day, we have a group on Snapchat with some of the guys from the team so we speak there a lot.
“When all the Arsenal fans were posting pictures of him and me, I would send it to him. I tried but unfortunately it wasn’t enough… he just laughed.”
Leno pens farewell message
Bernd Leno has penned a goodbye message to Arsenal fans after leaving the club to join Fulham.
He said on Twitter: "Hey @ Arsenal fans, it’s time to move on for me.
"It’s been a pleasure to be part of this great football club for 4 amazing years.
"Thank you very much for your support. Also a big thank you to my team mates and the staff behind the team. I‘m looking forward to see you soon!"
Arsenal fans explode at Arteta
Arsenal fans were left fuming after it emerged that the club photographer was given team-talk duties before the North London Derby.
Mikel Arteta called Chief Photographer and lifelong Arsenal fan Stuart MacFarlane into the dressing room before the mammoth clash against Tottenham at the Emirates in September.
And his decision, which was revealed in the new Amazon Arsenal documentary hasn't gone down well with club supporters.
One wrote on social media: "Cringe."
Another said: "Our photographer is the spine of the team ffs."
And a third added: "Do the players not know themselves??"
Ramsdale on Arteta's team-talk's
Aaron Ramsdale has revealed how Mikel Arteta's team talks inspire the team before games.
He said of his Arsenal boss: "I think he keeps it fresh because like you say sometimes he’s writing, sometimes he talks, sometimes he lets some of the lads talk.
"Keeps you engaged and he lets you into his life as well too. There’s new things we’ve found out about him over the past year that you would never find out unless he wrote a book or something. Before games, I do feel very engaged with what he’s saying."
Arsenal set to loan Patino
Arsenal are set to loan Charlie Patino to Blackpool, according to reports.
According to Gunners youth expert , the North Londoners have decided that the 18-year-old's development would be best served by a season in the Championship.
The deal will see Patino play in the second tier during the 2022-23 campaign, but will NOT include an option to buy.
He will play under well regarded coach Michael Appleton at Bloomfield Road.
Arteta opens up on surgery
Mikel Arteta has revealed that it's the first time he's opened up to the public about having surgery.
Most Arsenal personnel are aware that he went under the knife due to heart issues as a kid.
But the rest of the world will hear about the procedure for the first time on the Arsenal Amazon documentary, he explained.
Arteta told the BBC: "I never opened up like this to anyone.
"I think 90% of the boys or staff wouldn't know about that issue. But it's how I felt just before that moment, it's nothing that I planned."
Arteta speaks on surgery
Mikel Arteta has revealed he underwent heart surgery as a child in Spain.
The Arsenal boss opened up about the surgery to the BBC ahead of the Gunners' Amazon documentary release.
He said: "I was born with a big heart issue that they could not resolve until I was two years old because I was too little.
"They had to open my heart and go through it. It was one of the first surgeries that was done in that way in Spain, so we didn't know how it was going to end up.
"I was a really lively kid, the doctor was telling my father and mother that he needs to calm down, that he's not going to be able to do much exercise with that problem."
Xhaka - 'Arteta's a freak'
Granit Xhaka lauded praise on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who he calls a "freak" for his unique approach to coaching.
Xhaka said in the Arsenal Amazon documentary's opening episode: "Mikel is very, very special.
"I've already had a lot of coaches.
"He is a freak, but in a positive way because he sees details none of my other coaches would have seen."
Morning, Arsenal fans
Mikel Arteta is tipped to make "one or two" more signings" this month - as Bernd Leno finally departs for Fulham.
And Emile Smith Rowe has admitted his "shock" at how "sharp" main recruit Gabriel Jesus is.
Boss Arteta has already brought in five players this summer, ahead of Friday's Prem opener at Crystal Palace.
But it's thought he wants more, especially a right-winger.
Back-up keeper Leno has joined Fulham for £8million on a three-year deal.
Goal supplier Smith Rowe is certainly delighted with prolific taker Jesus.
The England midfielder told the Vibe with Five YouTube channel: “I didn’t actually realise how sharp he was!
“Obviously I’ve played against him and watched Man City a lot but when you actually see him in training… I’ve been telling my friends that he’s ridiculous.
“Everyone in the team is really excited for the new season and the fans should be as well I think.”
The Gunners have doubled down on rebuffing any Liverpool interest in wideman Bukayo Saka.
And Arsenal strike starlet Folarin Balogun’s loan deal to French side Reims has reportedly been ‘completed’ ahead of an official announcement.
Finally, Rio Ferdinand claims it’s “obvious” the Gunners' rebuilding is ahead of his old club Manchester United’s.
My dad's scared when I pass the ball out
Arsenal stopper Aaron Ramsdale almost certainly gets his competitive streak from his father, Nick, who makes a sweary cameo in the documentary as he watches his son in action.
The keeper, preparing to face Crystal Palace in Friday’s Premier League opener, said: “My dad still hates watching, especially now.
“He tells me week in, week out to stop passing it into midfield because it is going to give him a heart attack.
“I just say to him, ‘You’ll have to speak to Mikel about that’. And because he has got the manager’s number from when I signed, he says ‘OK, I will’.
“So then I have to stop him from going ahead and doing it! He’s always a very competitive person — and I’m told he walks in and out of the box during every game.
“You can see during the programme that he tries to kick and save every ball with me while he is watching. He’s in a state of complete exhaustion by the time I see him after games. And it’s only going to get worse for him the better we do.
“Hopefully I’m going to get into the Champions League and, you never know, I might play in a World Cup or a Euros. So it’s something he’s got to deal with.”
Leno signs three-year Fulham deal
Bernd Leno's move from Arsenal to Fulham has been confirmed with the goalkeeper signing a three-year deal at Craven Cottage.
The 30-year-old has linked up with the newly-promoted side in an £8milion transfer where he will be the club's new No1 between the sticks.
After four years in North London, Leno has decided to depart in search of regular first-team football in his bid to be named in Germany's World Cup squad for Qatar.
Mikel Arteta allowed the ex-Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper to leave having already brought in Matt Turner to be Aaron Ramsdale's back-up.
And after undergoing his medical on Tuesday, the Cottagers have finally announced his arrival.
Leno has put pen-to-paper on a contract until 2025, with the option of a further 12 months.
Aaron reveals online abuse
Aaron Ramsdale’s eyes were opened to the reality of life at a club like Arsenal before he even completed his £30million deal from relegated Sheffield United last summer.
He revealed: “I had a lot of online negativity, idiots telling me not to sign, threats trying to scare me and saying, ‘We know where you live’ and stuff like that.
“So pretty quickly I turned off all the notifications on social media from people who I don’t follow back.
“They can still try to message me but it’s only my friends and people who are important to me who can contact me.
“My mum and dad are on social media but don’t really know what they are doing, so it’s quite easy for them to type ‘Ramsdale’ into Twitter and end up on a page where there’s lots of negativity and abuse.
“So turning off the notifications has definitely made me feel safer — but it was also better for my family and it’s stopped them from getting upset.
“As much as I love the fans, the people I need to impress are the manager, the coaching staff and my team-mates.”
Ramsdale: Watch how players suffer
Aaron Ramsdale cannot wait for the first airing of the new Arsenal documentary — because it might show the public that being a footballer is not a bed of roses.
England keeper Ramsdale is a central figure in the behind the scenes series All or Nothing: Arsenal which launches on Prime Video on Thursday.
And he hopes the warts-and-all footage of life at the Emirates will prove just how much manager Mikel Arteta’s players have had to put up with.
The goalkeeper, 24, said: “Being a footballer is one of the best jobs in the world — but at the same time it’s also one of the worst.
“Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t me asking everyone to feel sorry for us, yet I hope this programme will show how hard it is.
“All the time spent away from kids and families, all the constant travelling and living out of a suitcase. Plus the stress you put on yourself — and the stress you get from the fans. One week, you’re winning games and on cloud nine.
“The next, you lose against a team you shouldn’t lose to — and suddenly it’s all doom and gloom. I just hope that the supporters get to see we are only human. You see us enjoying ourselves but also the times when we are suffering together."
'One or two more signings'
Arsenal will make "one or two more signings" this month
That's the prediction of Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, despite Mikel Arteta already bringing in five newcomers.
Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “It will take some time but I’m sure Arsenal will be busy in August with one or two more signings.
"It depends on the opportunities or outgoings, though.”
Nothing to see
Arsenal stars have turned out in force on the red carpet for the premiere of All or Nothing.
The Amazon TV series will start streaming from Thursday, detailing the highs and lows of last season.
But Emile Smith Rowe has fired out a warning to rivals ahead of the new campaign by hailing Arsenal’s new saviour Gabriel Jesus.
The England ace was one of five senior players present for tonight’s red carpet event at Islington Assembly Hall.
Smith Rowe was dressed in an all-black Arsenal casual kit.
And he was joined by teammates Rob Holding, Ben White, Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The quintet were all smiles as they posed for the camera. But they weren’t the only Arsenal favourites in town, with boss Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu also present.
There were some blasts from the past too as Nigel Winterburn and David Seaman turned up. And various celebs including Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuyaalso showed up in support for Arsenal.
I'll be a Fab manager
Cesc Fabregas has revealed he wants to manage in the Premier League after his transfer to Como.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has set out his future plans just days after his shock free move to the Serie B side.
After sealing his move to Como, he told : “When I become a coach, as I have said, the Premier League has been my league, it is where I played my best football, my best years, where people respect me so much.
“I feel really loved in England and, in the future, I would love [to coach there], why not? I’d love to [be a Premier League manager], 100 per cent.
“If I can look at a target in some years to come, then definitely, this is in my head.”
Emile 'surprise' at 'sharp 'Jesus'
Emile Smith Rowe has revealed his shock at how "sharp" Gabriel Jesus is.
Midfielder Smith Rowe was blown away by Arsenal's new striker in training, as much as by his brilliant record in pre-season games.
Jesus has notched seven goals and an assist in five friendlies since arriving from Manchester City for £45m.
And Smith Rowe told the : "The players that have come back [from loans], I already know how good they are so it’s not a surprise to see how good they are and how well they are doing.
"But from the new players, I think Gabriel Jesus. I didn’t actually realise how sharp he was!
"Obviously I’ve played against him and watched Man City a lot but when you actually see him in training… I’ve been telling my friends that he’s ridiculous.
"Everyone in the team is really excited for the new season and the fans should be as well I think."
Ide love to see that again
Arsenal starlet Joel Ideho channelled his inner-David Beckham to score from the half-way line in the 1-0 pre-season win against St Albans for the club's Under-21s.
The 19-year-old fired in the only goal of the game at Clarence Park on Monday night in a stunning strike from close to 50 yards out in the 72nd minute.
Ideho, who joined the Gunners from Ajax in 2020, has been touted as a future star by the club.
And he showcased why he is so highly-regarded following his display against National League South side St Albans in front of 2,601 fans.
The Dutch forward robbed a St Albans player of possession in his own half, before driving beyond the half-way line after riding two challenges.
And he then spotted goalkeeper Loris Marcimin off his line by the penalty spot, with his lofted effort nestling into the middle of the open net.
His team-mates were quick to mob Ideho, with the strike bringing back memories of Beckham's lob over Wimbledon's Neil Sullivan in August 1996.
Ideho is making a habit of scoring extraordinary goals having banged in a chip against Southampton from 35 yards last season.
Lucas snubs Serie A for Turkish giants
Lucas Torreira is on the brink of joining Galatasaray.
The Arsenal midfielder’s long-expected sale will fetch around £7.5million including add-ons.
revealed this afternoon that the Uruguay star was jetting to Istanbul for a medical.
The 26-year-old has been at the Emirates since 2018 but spent the last two seasons on loan, at Atletico Madrid and then Fiorentina.
It’s understood Torreira has rejected Serie A movies in favour of Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Buk stops here
Arsenal will not sell Bukayo Saka to Liverpool this summer, reports claim.
The Gunners will move to give the winger a new contract instead.
That’s the view of football reporter Dean Jones, who said to Give Me Sport: “Edu particularly won’t entertain offers for Saka at the moment and doesn’t believe that even a Liverpool bid could force the club to sell at the moment, so I think he will sign a new contract.”
Ronaldo and Maguire are players most abused online
Cristiano Ronaldo topped a list of the most abused Premier League footballers - with EIGHT of the top ten Manchester United stars.
The Portuguese superstar, 37, received a staggering 12,520 vicious messages between August 13, 2021 and January 24, 2022.
That included a spike on August 27, the day he completed his transfer to Old Trafford.
Club captain Harry Maguire was second on 8,954 in the same period.
Of those, a staggering 2,903 were sent on November 7 after Maguire apologised to fans following the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Marcus Rashford (2,557), Bruno Fernandes (2,464), Fred (1,924) and David De Gea (1,394) were also in the top ten - with departing midfielders Jesse Lingard (1,605) and Paul Pogba (1,446) seventh and ninth respectively.
Tottenham's Harry Kane (2,127) and Jack Grealish (1,538) of Manchester City were the only two not playing for the Red Devils during that period to make the list of insulted stars - which includes six England internationals.
In total, the state Ofcom recorded 600,000 of 2.3million tweets in the first five months of last season - with seven in ten top-flight players affected.
Seven per cent of footballers received abuse every day while just two per cent of the players on the end of half of the total offence. However, the Alan Turing Institute - the UK's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence - found the majority of football fans used social media responsibly.
Folarin 'completes Reims deal'
Arsenal strike starlet Folarin Balogun's loan deal to French side Reims has reportedly been 'completed' ahead of an official announcement.
The 21-year-old has been allowed to depart the Emirates with Mikel Arteta keen for the youngster to play regular first-team football.
Balogun, who is tied down in North London until 2025, spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Middlesbrough.
And he impressed during his time with Boro, where he chipped in with three goals and as many assists in 18 Championship matches.
The England youth international will now continue his development in Ligue 1 after being targeted to replace Hugo Ekitike.
Reims have made bringing in a centre-forward a top priority after Ekitike rejected Newcastle for Paris Saint-Germain in a £30million deal.
It was claimed on Monday how the youngster was undergoing his medical ahead of his switch to join Reims. And according to reporter , the loan has been agreed, with an announcement to confirm the transfer only now needed. Reims do not have a buy-option included in the deal, with Arsenal still believing he has a huge future at the club.
Gunners ahead of Red Devils - Rio
Rio Ferdinand claims it's "obvious" Arsenal's rebuilding is ahead of Manchester United's.
The Old Trafford legend was 'forced' into the 'confession' after being attached to a lie detector machine for his .
The former England defender was asked if Mikel Arteta's changes - led by signing striker Gabriel Jesus - is more advanced than that of new United chief Erik ten Hag's.
Ferdy replied: "Yes, they are they are, we have a new manager it’s obvious, we have a new manager who has to implement his ideas, we’re going to be behind you in that sense."
Soaring hopes
Cedric Soares is happy about how Arsenal’s signings are settling in.
He told the Standard: “The pre-season has been very positive and we had an excellent USA Tour.
“The new players are connecting really well with the rest of the team and the squad is becoming a strong unit.”
