THREE Chelsea stars have not been given shirt numbers for the upcoming season, reports suggest.

Cobham graduates Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu have both been left out in the cold in terms of shirts numbers ahead of the new season.

This move casts doubt over their immediate futures in the squad.

It is even more damning when considering fringe player Michy Batshuayi has been granted a number, as reported by .

Last season loanee Armando Broja has also been given a number, after West Ham's interest in him seems to have subsided due to The Hammers £30million acquisition of Gianluca Scamacca.

However, fresh reports indicate Real Madrid have joined Premier League duo Newcastle and Everton in the pursuit of the Albanian forward.

Like Gilmour and Ampadu, Brazilian wide-man Kenedy is also out in the cold for a shirt number.

Gilmour, who broke into the senior Chelsea team two seasons ago, went on loan to Norwich last season but massively struggled as The Canaries finished bottom of the league - opening up on his struggles.

Welshman Ampadu has been on a number of loan spells and is yet to really be afforded an opportunity to make his mark in the first team.

However, he has gone on record to state he wants to replicate team-mate Trevor Chalobah and force his way into Thomas Tuchel's plans.

Kenedy has been earmarked as one of seven players The Blues could offload this summer to free up wage and squad space.

Chelsea have endured a somewhat frustrating window, missing out on two of their main targets to Barcelona, with Sevilla blaming Chelsea for their own hesitancy in completing a deal for Jules Kounde.
