it's no joke

Bristol City star Jamie Paterson reveals his own way of dealing with ‘killer clown’ craze

THE "Killer Clown" craze started in the USA but is currently sweeping the UK - and one Bristol City player has pledged to take drastic measures if one tries to scare him.

The phenomenon has got particularly bad in Bristol, to the extent that "Clown hunting" groups are being set up across the area as more and more reports of people dressed as the scary characters chase and frighten people on the streets, often wielding weapons.

But clowns in the south-west had best be on their guard from Robins winger Jamie Paterson, who tweeted that is isn't taking any prisoners.

The former Nottingham Forest and Walsall player, who was one of Bristol City's final summer signings and who scored his first goal for the club earlier this month against Forest, took to social media last night to outline his methods on how he would stop a killer clown.

But instead of relying on pace and agility, Paterson said would take a slightly more direct and aggressive approach to stop any clown in their tracks.

He wrote: "If a clown tries playing a trick with me on a country lane it's game over for the clown. Getting mowed straight down. Taking no risks."

His drastic post saw the likes of Robins teammates Lee Tomlin and Aden Flint reply, to which Paterson added: "I'm playing no games with a clown."

It comes as a knife wielding clown chased a young girl through a park yesterday on her way to school in London in the latest in the attacks which are sweeping the nation.

Meanwhile, the mother of a young boy chased and attacked by a clown in Wales is now fearful to let him outside on his own after his left arm was left bruised after the person in the creepy costume threw a large rock at him.

And the teenage son of an England football star has been suspended from his private school for making “killer clown” threats to other kids in the Merseyside area.

The clown sightings were first reported in South Carolina in August and have spread across the USA before arriving the UK and across the western world, fuelled by social media.

Paterson agreed a three-year contract with the Ashton Gate club after passing a medical at the end of the transfer window, having made 69 appearances for Forest.
