Life in Mexico

Luis was born in 1999 in Sonora, Mexico.

He has trained with the same man, Gabriel Trigas, since he became interested in boxing at the age of 15.

Luis was first introduced to the trainer by his closest friend at school and, according to Gabriel, the sport has changed Luis' life.

Gabriel said that Luis is a "very good kid" and added that Luis' dedication to the sport saved him from becoming "addicted to drugs" like his school friends.

Sadly, in 2021, Luis found out that his mother had passed away while he was working.

He opened up about the sadness being "too strong and too difficult" to overcome but said that he is trying to "learn to live with the pain".

His mother's passing is one of his biggest motivations to succeed, as he wants to "achieve everything I promised her".

Luis is also determined to carve out a career for himself beyond boxing.

In his spare time, he works as a material supervisor and also studies industrial engineering at the Technology Institute of Sonora.

Luis' shocking match

The boxer made his professional boxing debut on April 28, 2017, in the Light Heavyweight Division.

He took on Misfits CEO and YouTuber KSI on August 27th, 2022, in a nail-biting match.

At the time, KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, was much more experienced than his opponent.

Sadly, Luis was defeated by KSI in the third round after putting up an incredible fight with the singer and Sidemen Youtuber.
