The £85million man was sent off for a headbutt on Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen in last month's 1-1 draw at Anfield.

In the first half of Saturday's Merseyside Derby, an over eager Nunez attempted a scissor kick.

He made a mess of his attempt and raced after the ball to retrieve possession.

But as play neared the corner flag, Nunez was nudged from behind by Everton's Nathan Patterson, and the striker crashed his privates into the corner flag.

The two sides uncharacteristically played out a 0-0 draw but both teams had their chances to snatch all three points.

Toffees defender Conor Coady thought he had scored the winner in the second half, tapping home at the back post.

However, after a VAR review the goal was chalked off for a narrow offside.

It would've been easy for Nunez to react but he managed to keep his cool.

Nunez vowed to not make the same mistakes he made against Palace again.

Following the incident, Nunez said: "I am aware of the ugly attitude I had.

"I'm here to learn from my mistakes and it won't happen again.
