His original application was dismissed due to his lack of recent match-time at club level and recent lack of international appearances for Spain.

However, SunSport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Wolves were confident the initial decision would be overturned due to his pedigree as an elite athlete.

As soon as the appeal was granted, Costa was given the green light to fly to the UK for medical tests - all of which have now been completed.

He landed last night, but arrived at Wolves' Compton training ground this morning.

The striker is set to sign a one-year deal with Wolves this afternoon, but he is not expected to be ready for the club's upcoming clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

Costa hasn't played a competitive match since December.

He made just 19 appearances for his previous club Atletico Mineiro before terminating his contract in January.

Wolves boss Bruno Lage is in desperate need of a new striker with £15million summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic set for a long spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

And with the transfer window not set to re-open until January, he's had few attacking options to choose from.

Andy Carroll emerged as another potential target after it was revealed that Costa's initial work permit application had been rejected.

But, Lage will be thrilled that he has finally secured his top target.
