‘We ain’t going nowhere’ – Nate Diaz says Conor McGregor trilogy will ‘for sure’ happen despite UFC star’s exit

NATE DIAZ says a trilogy-deciding fight with Conor McGregor will "for sure" happen despite his exit from the UFC.

Diaz, 37, is scheduled to have his final UFC fight this weekend against up-and-coming star Khamzat Chimaev on Saturday.

However, opponent Chimaev missed weight coming in 7.5 pounds over the welterweight limit.

It is not yet known if the bout will proceed as scheduled and if so, what amount of Chimaev’s purse will be forfeited as penalty.

Despite Saturday's main event fight at UFC 279, Diaz has an eye on a trilogy-deciding fight with old rival McGregor.

Diaz won the first meeting with the 34-year-old Irishman, but lost the rematch.

But he says a trilogy will take place "for sure" as "we ain't going nowhere".

Diaz told : "The timing’s not on right now.

"We’ll worry about that later. It’s for sure going to happen at some point. Yeah, at some point.

"He needs to get back on what he’s got to do, whatever that is.

"It’s like, when we match up, we’re going to match up. But we ain’t going nowhere.”

Diaz has just launched his new fight promotion, Real Fight Inc.

He will use his own platform to promote Saturday's fight since he thinks the UFC is siding with Chimaev.

Diaz said: "This fight right here that I’ve got coming up is brought to you by Real Fight Inc.

“The UFC is obviously pushing their fighter on me – not with me, but against me.

"So this is the first real fight event that we’ve got is right now, right here.”
