The £60million striker is set to be out for several weeks, leaving Toon with just ONE fit frontman with Callum Wilson back in training following a month out.

Chris Wood also suffered a rib injury with New Zealand while talisman Allan Saint-Maximin is still recovering from a hamstring problem.

Guimaraes is also a doubt for Fulham this weekend after returning back early from Brazil duty with a thigh strain.

Although the 24-year-old’s injury is not thought to be serious, Guimaraes was left out of Brazil’s squad to face Tunisia tonight.

The blows come with the Magpies winless in their last six Premier League matches.

Eddie Howe's side won 2-0 against Nottingham Forest on the opening day, but have suffered some bad fortune since.

The Toon subsequently drew 0-0 at Brighton before pushing champions Manchester City all the way at St James' Park.

They led Pep Guardiola and Co 3-1 before being pegged back by Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva strikes.

Saint-Maximin's 90th minute equaliser clinched a 1-1 draw at Wolves before a last gasp 2-1 loss at Liverpool and a 0-0 stalemate at Crystal Palace.

Isak scored from the penalty spot last time out against Bournemouth.

But his first goal in a Newcastle shirt wasn't enough to grab all three points, with Philip Billing's effort seeing the managerless Cherries share the spoils.
