Football news LIVE: Toney in match betting PROBE, Spurs want Gordon, Chelsea face Arsenal in HUGE clash – updates

ENGLAND and Brentford striker Ivan Toney is at the centre of a match-betting probe.

The forward is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the World Cup but is now being investigated by Football Association officials over allegations of wagers placed on games.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur could return for Anthony Gordon in the January transfer window.

Spurs showed interest in the Everton winger in the summer but a deal was not struck as Chelsea also made a late move.

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland scored a winning penalty for Manchester City after a little time out on the side lines.

  • Bale's Hollywood ending

Gareth Bale celebrated winning the MLS Cup in style alongside Hollywood star Will Ferrell.

Former Tottenham and Real Madrid ace Bale jumped off the bench in extra time to head home a late equaliser for Los Angeles FC, who then proceeded to beat Philadelphia Union on penalties.

And after the game the super sub was soaked by team-mates in his post-match press conference.

But it was the celebration of Ferrell that caught everyone's attention.

The actor, who stars in this year's Asda Christmas advert, was filmed drinking out of the MLS Cup.

Ferrell had a team scarf around his neck and a white cap on as he started drinking out of the trophy on the pitch after the final whistle.

  • Fuming Conte

Angry Antonio Conte slapped the ball out of Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders' hands as Tottenham searched for an equaliser against Liverpool.

The Spurs gaffer marched into the away team's technical area to whack the ball away.

  • All over

Liverpool have beaten Spurs 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

It was a nervy finish, with the Reds hanging on as Antonio Conte's side pushed for an equaliser.

Harry Kane got them back in it, with a superb finish.

But, it was the two Salah goals in the first half that were enough to win it.

  • Saint to sinner

Southampton are set to sack manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The Austrian is set to depart either before Southampton's game against Liverpool next weekend or during the World Cup.

Southampton were thrashed 4-1 by Newcastle at home on Sunday and were booed off the pitch.

The result leaves the Saints in the relegation zone with just one win in nine matches.

Asked about Southampton's difficult situation, a downbeat Hasenhuttl said: "It is the first time we are under the line (relegation zone) since I'm here at that time of the year.

"So this is definitely something that shows we have not done enough so far this season."

  • Half-time

Liverpool are in total control against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mo Salah put them ahead after just 11 minutes with an incredible quick finish.

The Egyptian then scored a second five minutes before half-time to put the Reds in the ascendancy.

  • Rice understands fans' frustration

Declan Rice has revealed he understands why the fans booed off West Ham, following defeat to Crystal Palace.

"Fans can voice their opinions,'" 23-year-old Rice said.

"They pay their hard-earned money. They're probably right to boo us in a way because we weren't good enough.

"From the way I'm feeling and the way I saw the lads, I'm devastated. That was a game we had to win. Two big games before the World Cup and you lose one of them so you're counting on the next game."

  • Liverpool's team to face Spurs

The Reds have welcomed Nunez back to their starting line-up.

It's an attacking line-up from Liverpool, in which is a statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp.

Maybe he feels they need to win it?

  • Spurs side

Here's the Tottenham eleven to play Liverpool in North London.

No Son, no Richarlison, in a Spurs side that looks light up front.

    Defensively, they're without Romero too.

  • Team News

The team news is in ahead of Tottenham's clash with Liverpool in North London.

Emerson Royal and Yves Bissouma are in for the injured Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura in two changes from the team that beat Marseille on Tuesday. Dejan Kulusevski is back on the bench but with Son and Richarlison missing, it looks to be quite a defensive line-up from Antonio Conte.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made three changes from the team that beat Napoli. Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez are in for Kostas Tsimikas, Curtis Jones and James Milner who sustained a head injury in the Champions League clash.

Kick off from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is at 4.30pm.

  • Call It Off

England fans have been left with their hearts in mouth yet again after Callum Wilson was substituted at half-time for Newcastle.

The Three Lions World Cup hopeful came off at the break in the game at Southampton.

Wilson, 30, was replaced up front by Chris Wood.

It's currently unclear whether or not the substitution was due to an injury, or purely tactical.

Wilson had been suffering from a cold earlier in the week.

England boss Gareth Southgate was in the stands at St. Mary's watching the game.

  • All to Play For

Luke Shaw's late first-half goal has brought United back into the game after they fell two goals behind early doors at Aston Villa. It is now 2-1.

Southampton dropped into the relegation zone yesterday after Leicester's win at Everton and the Saints will need to far more if they are to get back into the game. They trail Newcastle 1-0 after Miguel Almiron's brilliant strike.

And it's all-square in the London derby at the London Stadium after Wilfried Zaha cancelled out Said Benrahma's opener.

Earlier, Arsenal won at Stamford Bridge to go back to the top of the Premier League.

And in the FA Cup, Wrexham beat Oldham 3-0 in an all National League clash. And it's goalless between sixth-tier Curzon Ashton and League 1 Cambridge at half-time.

  • Premier League half-times

    Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester United
    Southampton 0-1 Newcastle
    West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

  • Glorious Goals

Just like yesterday, Premier League fans are being treated to some outstanding strikes.

Miguel Almiron has his seventh goal in his last seventh game after a brilliant individual strike gave Newcastle the lead at Southampton.

Meanwhile at the London Stadium a ferocious drive by Said Benrahma gave West Ham the lead before a well-taken goal by Wilfried Zaha - his sixth Premier League strike of the season - evened up the score at 1-1.

Lucas Digne also scored a brilliant free-kick to make it 2-0 to Villa against Manchester United.

  • Not Happy

Manchester United fans cannot quite believe how their side collapsed in the opening 10 minutes away at Aston Villa.

The Red Devils remain two goals down and have offered little going forward so far.

  • Snatch and Gab

Gabriel's goal gave Arsenal another huge three points as they took a big victory away at Chelsea.

It was a scrappy game and neither played their best but Arsenal were the better team throughout and deserved the win.

  • What a Win

Arsenal held on to their goal and have wrapped up a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

It's three wins in a row for the Gunners away at Chelsea now with the Blues looking toothless and hapless in front of goal.

Gabriel's goal was enough to send Mikel Arteta's men back to the top of the table and fans are increasingly beginning to believe they can do something special.

  • Captain Ron

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named captain for Manchester United today.

The forward, 37, has taken the armband from Bruno Fernandes, who has captained the squad for much of the season so far.

Fernandes received his fifth yellow card of the season during last weekend’s 1-0 win over West Ham, so he is facing a suspension.

Squad captain Harry Maguire has been named on the bench, which is why Ronaldo has been given the armband.

Just a few weeks ago, the Portugal star was AXED from United’s first team for refusing to come off the bench during the club’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.

  • Villa Park Line-Ups

Manchester United have made one change from Thursday as Marcus Rashford comes in for the suspended Bruno Fernandes, with Alejandro Garnacho retaining his place.

Meanwhile in Unai Emery's first Aston Villa team, Lucas Digne is back from injury and back in the starting line-up.

United: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw; Eriksen, Casemiro, Van de Beek; Rashford, Garnacho, Martial

Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Ramsey, Dendoncker, Luiz; Buendia, Watkins, Bailey

  • Dacked-Off

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray wants to rescue Bradley Dack from his misery at Blackburn.

Mowbray is after a deal for the attacking midfielder, who is struggling for starts under Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Dack, 28, is out of contract in the summer and Blackburn may let him go in January to take his wages off their payroll.

Mowbray signed him for Blackburn and kept backing him despite a couple of serious knee injuries.

The Black Cats are in the market for extra forwards after their campaign was disrupted by the loss of Ross Stewart and Ellis Simms due to injury.

  • Half-Time at Stamford Bridge

It's 0-0 after 45 minutes between Chelsea and Arsenal in a game that's had plenty of energy and endeavour but has lacked quality in the final third.

A close-range back post header from Gabriel Jesus was the closest either team came.

But the game has had plenty of needle with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang booked after a tasty tackle on former teammate Ben White.

While Marc Cucurella and Bukayo Saka have been having their own private battle down the right, with Saka booked for the Gunners.

  • Nerve-Shredder

Erling Haaland said scoring Manchester City's stoppage-time penalty yesterday was "one of the most nervous moments of my life".

The fit-again Norwegian came off the bench to grab his 23rd goal in just 16 games to clinch a vital 2-1 win for ten-men City over Fulham.

Haaland's 95th minute spot-kick squirmed under Bernd Leno's dive and put Pep Guardiola's reigning champions one point clear at the top of the Prem.

Haaland said: "It was one of the most nervous moments of my life but fantastic.

"I don't care how it went in, it's about getting through the situation in the proper way and that is what I did.

"I was really nervous. An amazing feeling, I love it. I'm so tired but so happy."

  • Hall or Nothing

Birmingham teen George Hall is wanted by Prem clubs — and his lack of game-time is encouraging them to pounce.

Leeds head the hunt for the midfielder, 18, and may try their luck in January when he could be available to buy.

Hall expected to get regular games this season and that was the main reason he stayed with Blues and signed a new deal.

But local lad Hall has struggled for starts recently and that has put his top-flight suitors on alert.

  • He's Auba It

Graham Potter has insisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has no hang-ups over his acrimonious departure from Arsenal.

The striker is set to play against the Gunners for the first time since falling out with Mikel Arteta last season.

But Potter insists there's no hard feelings there.

Speaking to BT Sport before the game, the Chelsea boss said: "He's never spoken negatively to me about Arsenal. He has a lot of respect for them for what they did for them and his career and now he wants to do well for us."

  • Aubameyang out for revenge

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang starts for Chelsea against his former side Arsenal as the Blues make three changes from the team that beat Dinamo Zagreb.

Chelsea line-up: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Thiago, Chalobah; Loftus-Cheek, Cucurella, Jorginho, Mount; Havertz, Sterling, Aubameyang
