Sergio Aguero dropped: Twitter reacts to Manchester City striker being benched for Barcelona Champions League clash

SERGIO AGUERO has been benched by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for their Champions League clash with Barcelona tonight - a decision which has baffled pretty much everyone.

Pep Guardiola returns to the Nou Camp tonight where he used to manage and will try and contain the triple threat of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

One of his decisions is to istead play Kevin De Bruyne as a "false nine" - and speaking yesterday, he said he would try to take on Barcelona at their own game.

The Catalan is trying to transform City's style, introducing a high-pressing game to dominate possession and control matches - possibly explaining Aguero's absence.

He said: "I would like to defend well and attack well but to change the way you think, the way you believe in playing football, it's impossible. The players aren't going to believe me if I do that."
