BARCELONA right-back Douglas has opened up on a heartbreaking two years at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian, who arrived from Sao Paulo in 2014 for €4 million, played just 12 minutes for the Catalans in two seasons before being loaned to Sporting Gijon.

He told El Comercio: "Ever since I was little I'd dreamed of being a footballer.

"I knew it was difficult but I was getting there. Now I'm there again.

"At Barcelona I had some difficult times with injuries. Each day I would go home crying but that's how it is.

"I had to deal with it and just carry on."

Despite his struggle with injuries, Douglas said he felt some at Barcelona had an agenda against him.

"There were people that were always strongly against me in the club.

"Apart from injuries that I've had to get over, this can create a fireball in your head.

"But I had to stay strong for my family and for the people that loved me."

However things haven't been much better for the right back in Gijon.

He was forced to miss the club's showdown with Barcelona after bizarrely injuring his left buttock sleeping on the team bus.

And Luis Enrique's decision to get rid of him seems to have been vindicated as Sporting have lost 5-0 in both games he has played.

Catalan daily Sport reported earlier in the week that Douglas tried to stop his loan move out of spite for the way Barcelona had treated him.

The Sport article said: "Douglas was so upset at how events were going he took the decision neither to sign the papers nor leave the offices.

"The club had to take action, telling one of the lawyers to come and try and help with the mission of getting Douglas to leave the facilities. Eventually he convinced the player that his squatting attempt was not correct."

Douglas arrived at the club with fellow Brazilians Henrique and Keirrison, but none of the three players made an impact with €14 million striker Keirrison known as one of Pep Guardiola's worst signings.
