The Italian outlet also suggests Ange Postecoglou has no intention of selling the 17-year-old, who has been valuated at £1.75million.

Vata is highly-rated at Celtic and signed his first professional contract with the club last summer, keeping him at Parkhead until 2024.

Son of Hoops legend - Rudi - Rocco has picked up several caps for the Republic of Ireland youth teams since switching allegiances to his mother's homeland in 2019.

The Hoops youngster was born in Scotland and he qualifies for Albania and Montenegro as well.

Celtic legend James Forrest - who joined the Hoops' 100 club at the weekend - was impressed by Vata during pre-season.

The young versatile midfielder was given the opportunity to test himself with the Parkhead first team in the summer.

And Forrest reckoned the 17-year-old "looked ready" to compete with the rest of his teammates for a spot in Postecoglou's senior squad.

Speaking about Vata's progress in the summer, Forrest said: “He looks really well. He’s adapted to our training right from the start of pre-season.

"I think he’s only just turned 17 but physically, he looks ready. He’s in good shape and is quick.

“You obviously don’t want to put too much pressure on him but I think he’s a confident boy.

"It’s maybe benefited him being up training with us right from the start with first team players. He’s looked sharp and in some of the pre-season games.”
